At the Gates, "Gardens of Grief" album cover artwork.
Hey (medieval) archaeologists, can you identify the ruins on this album cover? Reminds me of one of many Cistercian abbey ruins I've seen in Britain.

Really loving the Medievalism and Metal Studies book Throwing Down the Gauntlet.
Personally struggling coming to terms with the various AI policies that I've seen in my courses over the past year. I'm relieved to see some, sad to see others. All I know is that I won't be touching any of it.

As we bear witness to the seismic changes in federal governance and public technology, this project could not be more timely. See 🧵 below. Two founding members of the US Digital Service (rebranded DOGE) have amassed an extensive oral history archive and timeline of the agency’s origins under Obama.

Did a good exercise in class today. Students explored death certificates from early-20th century Spokane, then went to online newspapers for the larger stories. It had a real impact and demonstrated how digital resources leverages another. #PublicHistory

Last year we launched the Stockton Historical Society Inc Digital Archives. We did an online event to showcase the new site. We didn’t record due to privacy, so I’ve re-recorded the presentation. So if you’re interested in setting up an online archive for a small #GLAM institution, give it a watch!
Currently working on a Medium.com article about Sabaton that is based on a potential Master's thesis idea (If I end up going through with a Masters!). It will be posted here when I'm finished it. :)
With fewer Departmental events happening through Summer term, we will be sharing some past presentations that are available on our YouTube Channel!

During #NCPH2025 attendees wrote #advocacy letters to their Rep.'s urging them to protect #PublicHistory programs and funding in their home states. If you're interested in supporting this work, we will send pre-stamped postcards to those who donate $10 or more at community.ncph.org/donations/do...!
Brilliant, incisive critique by an actual Severan historian, and how the actual history would have made a better movie than the tropified disaster we were given.
#PublicHistory is going to the Museum! Carleton students & faculty please join us April 10th starting at 5pm at the Canadian War Museum for a special Public History tour and event.

Front cover of the zine showing a hand reaching up out of some water and the words "plan the cemeteries"
Two pages of the zine, one is an eye surrounded by colourful lights, the second is a septic tones image of old books with the words "the construction of history uncovered our understanding Here we were praying for boundaries to the future People reflect their own lifetimes What anxieties come from challenge"
A double page spread featuring an old jar, and an illustration of a Roman town, the text reads "raw dykes" "evidence of dykes protected and visible at the time of Caesar found near place of worship"
The back page of the zine comprising of a collage - a fragment of a map an abstract strip of blue and an eye, the text reads "several burial sites have been discovered, some of the skeletons suggest, people with African ancestry" "look inside"
Other little zines I've made include this one about how we construct history, made out of a Cathedral events advertising leaflet, a map of Roman Leicester, and the front page of the Church Times
Great work from @david-scott71.bsky.social and the team in collectively remembering a once forgotten workers' uprising and massacre. Public history at its best. Good news this has now got funding and will be taught in schools too www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Interesting thread on public history, Reddit, and gaming…Didn’t think I’d be putting together those three in a sentence today
Given that we just we already went through a big controversy about the public history of the Enola Gay a couple decades ago, the whole “first as tragedy, then as farce” thing has never seemed more on the nose.

Definitely!! My other account @springmcmlxxiv.bsky.social is on that list, but I ended up using it for non-academic purposes; this one is definitely preferred!!
