4. So I hope this is encouraging for anyone in a similar boat - if I have managed it, you certainly can too...
3. On a personal level, I just wanted to share (emphasise!) that this was a paper that was on my ‘to do’ list every year but other tasks (and life!) got in the way. It finally got published 10 years (!) after I conducted my fieldwork.
2. I’m grateful to the supportive and helpful reviewers; to encouraging @socscinapier.bsky.social colleagues; and to the journal’s editorial team.
1. I'm chuffed that my paper with Families, Relationships and Societies @brisunipress.bsky.social is featured in the journal’s Editors Choice Collection! This is very much a first for me. The publisher is offering free access until 31st Oct: bristoluniversitypressdigital.com/subject/Edit...
And today’s publication day!
Massive thanks to my lovely @socscinapier.bsky.social co-authors, Jamie Buchan & @kmmorrison.bsky.social - and to everyone who helped by reviewing chapters, answering queries or chatting to us about their work.

The House of Lords just released a major report on media literacy. Its core message is that the UK is falling behind, and it’s putting democracy at risk.

A picture of the front cover page of the primer paper, in a deep forest green background colour and a photo image of the dictionary definition of the word 'justice' and its meaning. The paper title says, 'Sentencing and Penal Policy Commission: Describing the Challenge.'
The Sentencing and Penal Policy Commission have published a new short primer paper 👇 🔗 It highlights key issues facing Scotland's Justice system, with a focus on the prison population.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our talented colleague @kir-anderson.bsky.social has been awarded a prestigious RSE Personal Research Fellowship for her research project on harm, history, and memory in Scottish prisons 👏
You can't swing a cat in Napier's crim team's offices without hitting a successful colleague in the face, and I am beyond delighted to see the latest success of all-round excellent human being @kir-anderson.bsky.social, I can think of no better person to conduct this important project.
Will save the rant on problems with trains (especially for families) for another day but for now thank you kind strangers! I’ll do my best to reciprocate soon.
Soft toy rabbit with notebook, pen, soap, hot chocolate sachets and biscuits.
One such act includes Ruth, Deputy College Housekeeper from @caiuscollege.bsky.social kindly posting rabbit (and some extras) first class, back home when it got left in our accommodation as we left in haste (opps). So kind!
This is a wee thank you to the universe to the many kind strangers who helped on the journey - eg carrying bags on/off trains, holding daughter’s hand
