I Love This! 💛💛💛

Thank you! It was a banner day + my sister and daughter were able to join for the dancing!
Yup! Still a big fan, I’ll have to see if I have one of my old units lying around 💛
So pretty #NotJudgingByCover #MaybeALittleBit 😂 Wildseed Witch by Marti Dumas.
I think I did this too. I vaguely recall a mind map type thing with all the topics that connected. Am I making this up? 😂
Calling all educators! 📚❤️
I'm giving away a class set of 25 copies of @mrschureads.bsky.social's new book, RUTHIE ROSE’S BIG IDEA, illustrated by @hollyhatam.bsky.social.

So much of it was literally knowing what they taught in the classroom. I asked my 3rd graders what they were learning about and when I popped up to their classroom with 10 books about NYC, you’d think I was a magician. That teacher was my first true collaborator and always came to me for ideas! 🥰
A2 Absolutely! One year I made an “what can your librarian do for you” die. I think only my principal saw it but it did help me think thru what I wanted teachers to know! Seeing it now, I think it also makes a great playlist! 🤣 #TLSkyChat and A5 #SchoolLibraryLife #ComputerScience #MediaLiteracy
Awesome! There is one more that I can’t remember the title of but it has a beautiful cover and AA FM can communicate with plants and goes to a special school in New Orleans! (I can see the cover but can’t remember the title!) off to search 😂
the amount of connections the kids made blew both of our minds & we started looking for more crossover projects! (I think we were equally surprised) He also didn’t think I was totally nuts when I asked if we could use scooters in the library #BuildTrust #TLSkyChat #SchoolLibraryLife
For example, when the students were learning about the heart in gym and how the pulse worked/helped you be fit, we read up on the heart in #pebblego
A4 I’ve found a LOT of success in working with the other specials teams. Art and music are usually game and it makes planning half the effort! Often I might read something and start research but in art, technology, music, world language, and even gym they might build on the knowledge!
Overthinking is often my worst enemy (see all my art projects age 5-15 lol). Sometimes starting small is better than nothing at all. I’m working REALLY hard on PROGRESS not perfection #TLSkyChat #SchoolLibraryLife #InquiryCycle #ProcessOverProduct #AskCurateShare #ComputerScience #MediaLiteracy
A7 the best way was when I was given the time to join the grade lvl mtgs (I had to give up lunch but #TeacherLife) We were revamping almost every curriculum for IB certification and it was AWESOME to be part of the conversation instead of being told in the hallway 10 mins before 😂 #TLskyChat
I’m sure you’ve read them, it I also love Amari and the Night Brothers (series) by @bbalston.bsky.social, The Marvellers by @dhonielle.bsky.social, or for the younger kiddos try Dragons in a Bag by Zetta Elliot!
Oh man the memories with this song, and the awesome word play here, -=chefskiss=-
Yay! I’d love to hear how it goes! This is one of the simplest and greatest things I’ve ever tried lol!
I mean honestly anything Gratz works well. I also love titles like Jewell Parker Rhodes Ghost Boys for conversation about current events and how the past influences the present #TLSkyChat
Absolutely! At each of my schools I had to find my sweet spot of teachers who would try anything and show the one who wouldn’t try what the library could do! #tlskychat
A8 one my faves was simply putting a barcode on kid’s writing, typically after tucking it into a folder,& letting their friends “check out” their book! Made kids FEEL like authors & made it more accessible to be a writer! #TLSkyChat #SchoolLibraryLife #AskCurateShare #ComputerScience #MediaLiteracy
A2 Probably my favorite is making Raas sticks in art and tying it into learning about Diwali holiday, making rangoli in technology to build our own coloring book, & using our Raas sticks to actually do the dance in the library! Plus I got to wear my wedding skirt! #tlskychat #SchoolLibraryLife
A5 this song was my JAM! (And still is!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvVf... #TLskychat
A3 my favorite thing to teach is Hispanic Heritage Month! After working in predominantly Hispanic schools and going to a Guelaguetza to learn folk dance, I was able to incorporate Folk Art, Music and Tales! #TLSkyChat ##SchoolLibraryLife #AskCurateShare #ComputerScience #MediaLiteracy
🚀✨ T-minus 1 hour ‘til #TLSkyChat! ✨🔍

Anyone else sing "remember me" from Coco when clicking Remember Me boxes in sign ins? Just me?
Is this a sneak peek of teen years? 8.5 is strumming her ukulele after running and slamming her door because she can’t have more screen time until she does some writing practice.
