Question Period:

PP accusing others of arrogance?

Another example of "when you point a finger at someone, the others are pointing back at you"?

Ontario pledge to tie attendance to high school marks, mandate final exams draws mixed reaction | CBC News New Ontario education legislation proposes to count attendance and class participation into high schoolers' final marks and to mandate final exams, drawing a mix of reaction from students, parents and...

A disservice to students & teachers, ignoring advances in education & failing to address the real issues. Grades tied to attendance & mandatory exams are ableist, exclusionary, & undermine teachers developing more creative forms of assessment suited to the fields the teach.

In a recent @ndp.ca presser @avilewis.ca dismissed floor crossers as against NDP policy. Given the ideological shift in Canadian politics lately this seems short-sighted. If MPs realigning with parties representing their values & constituents means progressives find a home with the NDP, why stop it?

You still have ONE HOUR to cast your vote. Polls close at 8:30 local time.

Turnout so far has appeared to be low and there has been little to no wait time at polling stations.

If you do find yourself in a line as polls close, stay in line. You will get to vote.

Pivotal Terrebonne byelection sees preliminary 20% voter turnout in advance polls | Globalnews.ca Preliminary data from Elections Canada says 18,200 people in the Quebec riding cast ballots in advance elections, which amounts to almost 20 per cent of people on the voters' list.

Under 20% turnout so far in all 3 ridings. Voting matters. Choosing your representative matters. Low voter turnout allows for the election of individuals that may be good at turning out voters but don't represent the best interest of the constituents

Monday, April 13. Vote.

PP saying that PMMC is telling people their vote doesn't matter by accepting floor crossers...after he ignored the voters that fired him, ignored the voters that chose Damien Kurek...surely he must recognise the hypocrisy?

Doubt he would be saying the same if defectors were willing to join the Cons

Exodus of progressive liberals to NDP? Is @avilewis.ca more open to floor crossers than Davies? Trudeau-era Liberals may feel more in line with the NDP than Carney's LPC.
A party tent can only stretch so far. There must be concerns about its structural integrity when extended to house MPs like Gladu

Inclined to agree. She represents some of the worst of the MPs & given her past stances has no place in the LPC. Has she signed on to the party constitution? Because that would be a significant shift from her previously stated views. Still hope it will be the final nail in the coffin for PP's career

Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu crosses floor to Liberals | CBC News The Liberals have picked up another Conservative floor-crosser, bringing them one seat closer to a majority government.

Do I love everything that Carney is doing? Of course not. But I do love this for PP.
Cons should take this as a scathing indictment of the leader they've chosen & what he represents given who she is. Maybe even recognize this as the moment to reflect & pivot away from his MAGA-style politics...

Nowhere to go but up, I suppose, particularly as the Carney Liberals move away from the left. Those who have become disenchanted by the current government will be looking for that representation. A large window of opportunity has opened on the left for the NDP to find their way back to relevance.
