So when i said "this is what people in the 30s wanted" i was saying the people who supported the new deal believed the future would be bright and full of technological wonder. and then the responding skeet, where i said the new deal was reversed due to "uppity niggers", was a COMMENTARY on american racism. this is a well-documented historical phenomenon, and books such as white rage by dr. carol anderson include direct quotes of civil rights-era southern politicians speaking in this way about the black people who participated in the civil rights movement. perhaps some of my post veers into personal opinion, ie. that this was a move to bring back slavery, but that is still in line with language used by us vice president henry wallace, who positively contrasted the fdr administration's support of the "free world" against reactionary/fascist forces which sought to build a "slave world". i understand that my posts are sometimes inflammatory but the language i use is always in service of shocking people towards a more humanitarian vision of our potential as a society. obviously as a black person i do not believe that black people are "uppity" but i can tell you that my family has encountered racists who have told us such in the past and described such encounters (with that language) to me. it is important for black people to be able to keep the cultural memory of these harms alive so that the people who seek to repeat these vile acts (who i believe are currently in power through the trump administration) cannot bring us back to that point. thank you for your time.
