What in the world?
Alright, I’d like to say more, but I don’t want this thread to be a long scroll.
A review like this would be better suited for a typed/video essay or the like.
The game also suffers heavily from haphazard art direction and lighting. Muted albedo coloring, un-natural rim lighting, and environments with little to no ambient occlusion are some of the complaints I have with this game from a visual standpoint.
However, Scarlet and Violet’s processing load on the Switch 1, the console the game was developed for, was overbearing for the system.
There were constant frame drops and stutters, low draw distances and noticable LOD swaps during my playthrough. My console was also overheating with a loud fan.
Welp, I finished Scarlet. The game’s open-world and Breath of the Wild esque story pacing is quite fun and welcoming change to the Pokémon series. I particularly got caught off guard and blacked out when I was facing Great Tusks, apparently under-leveled.

As much as I’m enjoying Bananza, I’m going to finish it yet.
I’d like to dive into Scarlet and Violet on Switch 1 to see if the game is broken as people say it is. Once I finish with the main game, or if I experience too many crashes, I’ll finish the rest of the game on Switch 2.
Okay, I started playing Bananza yesterday; I’m currently at the Forbidden Layer. The voxel destruction is very fun, but it feels too easy for a good portion of the game.
