Walz: If you say you love freedom but you don't believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love is not freedom, it is privilege.

🔥 CROCKETT: “Facts matter.”
“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”
A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.
For those who are uncomfortable with a message that reminds us all about the importance of compassion and mercy, it is their internal challenge that they need to wrestle with.
I ask you to vote NO on House resolution 59.
Perhaps you have heard preachers say that we are meant to "comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable." Her message did just that. How one hears it depends not on any political stance or party line, but where you feel your voice and life are at the moment.
If a call for mercy upon those who are afraid is considered a partisan act and a distortion of the gospel of Jesus, then you have missed the message.
I have ministered to people on all sides of various political divides through the years. Bishop Mariann Budde's message was one truly based on the gospel of Christ. It was, by no means partisan.
To our Representatives in the House:
I am a pastor in good standing in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. I have served in various congregations for over 20 years.
Good morning. 🥶
When everything everywhere all at once seems terrible, I always count on Pooh Bear and Piglet for the simplest explanation.
Carry on.
Nothing has been more accurate.
Same.
Me too. Received with great appreciation by all.
"One of the great tragedies of mankind is that morality has been hijacked by religion. So now people assume that religion and morality have a necessary connection. But the basis of morality is really very simple and doesn't require religion at all."
-- Arthur C. Clarke, born #OTD 1917
Getting sick with tuberculosis shouldn't be fatal. It also shouldn't be a cause of impoverishment. Too often, it's both.
In honor of my sons who are both brilliant trombone players, but are not here on 🦋
Being a “high information voter” comes with a heap of disgust and despair. I can only imagine it is the smugness that keeps me coming back.
Happy Monday!
Be kind
Family includes everyone! ❤️
I have really had it up to here with the US healthcare system, for all the reasons you already know. Today my specific ire is reserved for big pharma. They don’t want to help people, unless by “people” you mean “shareholders “.
Gripe, grumble, growl.
If you are going to reread a book, which one and why?
I truly will never understand this…
Welcome! It seems nice here so far 🙂
Excellent point.
Welcome. I’m also new and trying to correct my unsociable ways. 🙂
👋 New here. I have lots to say about everything but probably nothing to add to the conversation. With a grand total of zero posts at the other social media platform, even before it went to heck, I am going to try to correct my unsociable ways. Maybe.
