They see a virulent man—
mysterious, quiet, and unsure.
A pale, profound face,
features etched by years.

Blasted by the virtuous.
Accused by the pious.
Trivial adversary,
is the silent refugee.

The dead cling to my neck, wrists, and ankles—
trinkets are a homage to what was,
now lost.
I cling to gravesites.
