I’m so pleased that i booked a ticket to attend this @bilnas.bsky.social event @britishacademy.bsky.social. Libya has always been on the periphery of my knowledge and this film made me realise how connected the histories of northern Africa are!

Many thanks to @bilnas.bsky.social for organising 🤩

Leaving @theees.bsky.social is getting harder and harder as reality sinks in. Redevelopment, even for good reasons, inevitably means that we must accept change. The library may not be the same when i’m next in, but my memories will remain and our relaunch in 2028 will be accessible and sustainable.

Next in our series of #ADozenDiscoveries is ‘Pharaohs, Fellahs and Explorers’ by Amelia Edwards from @theees.bsky.social's Special Collections. Our founder aimed to make #AncientEgypt more accessible, and we continue to do so today.

Some items on display were documented at Tanis by @theees.bsky.social when they were yet to be relocated to museums. Like this statue of Tuya, mother of Ramesses the Great, recycled from an earlier sculpture (check out the re-carved arms!).
