Also plenty who aren’t.

That's not right, in the public sector at least. I've hired plenty of people, announced their appointment, and then had to wait an annoyingly long time while security clearance came through. A few (5ish?) years ago became a real issue because the lags were so long (think was austerity effect).

You always get a lot of angry replies here if you complain about the Greens blocking solar farms or power grid upgrades. Maybe they should stop instigating pile-ons and start instigating pylons.

I'm a broken record on this but the radicalisation and brain rot of Gen X/boomers is a massively under-appreciated problem

'Industrial scale' solar farms attacked by Norfolk's Green The county council's Green leader says solar panels should be locally owned and put on roofs.

I see the Greens are opposing (checks notes) solar power now.

Chrissie Hynde is so cool. I don’t have a gag to add here. She’s just really fucking cool. #totp

Of the situations I regularly encounter on my bike commute, this one is easily the scariest -- even though "nothing happened."

Reader, a lot is happening.

what assumption about crude prices are you basing that assertion about retail gasoline prices on, out of interest? (Given, in particular, that physical price of crude is waaay above futures prices, refineries may soon be paying those prices as stocks are run down, and flows have not yet resumed.)

BBC News leading all its bulletins on demands by former Government advisor Lord Robertson for more defence spending, without at any point mentioning his current paid senior role for US defence lobbyists

We’ve been brilliant since Big Phil took over
Too late for POs (we looked like relegation certainties when he started). Now just hoping we’ll have another game in London next season…(don’t really mind which one)

The famous Beigel shop (the yellow one…) is on Brick Lane. Suspect you’re conflating the two? The Beigel shop used to have another one nearby that spelled it the more conventional way, though that’s now gone I think.

Interesting that literally no mention of Brexit in that article. Good old BBC.

Game of patience now. Blockading Iranian tankers was always an option but it means you're starving the global economy of oil by even more now. Question is who gains most from that, and who can wait it out for longest.

What does this have to do with being in the army?

There’s not any suggestion in that article that @stephenkb.bsky.social actually ever *goes* there, is there? Think it’s more the concept and maybe the distant view of it he loves.
Certainly agree it’s easier to like from a distance than when you actually go there and get lost.

OK. But Dom's original post was asking what's been achieved by the war. Hard for me to see how it's delivered a lower FF rate.

Why would the war deliver a lower Fed Funds rate than would otherwise have been the case?

Artemis ll is fake and gay. The crew
are being sequestered in some ritzy
hotel, ready for their make up team to
make them look skanky for the staged
scenes where they are recovered from
the ocean. Then they'll lie for the press
conference. And hate themselves for
ever after.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson's former best friend and Spectator journalist, James Delingpole, is speculating on Artemis 2 being fake.

Quite how he still has a career is something of a mystery.

It was brilliant to be at York today to see them win in the last minute. Over 8,000 people there, in the fifth tier, going mental.

The pyramid truly is English football’s greatest treasure.

It is understandably hard for the rest of the world to get their heads around, tbf

Out of interest, what do you mean by "no coming back from this"? That it will change minds? Or that it changed yours (and if so how)?

Ref is now letting the home crowd get to him.
Which is what championship refs always end up doing.

Disagree 100%, fwiw (and I support a Championship club). Think he’s got all the big calls right. Wish the refs we get in the champs were half as good as this.
