You got me there! Wer lesen kann ist klar im Vorteil ;)
According to the u:rise webpages, the courses are available until February 28 (this saturday). What happens if I've started a course by then, but haven't completed it? Or is it possible that access will be extended into spring as well?
My personal highlight: meeting the Competence Center for Behavioural Insights from @scienceinnovation.ec.europa.eu. Thank you for the glimpse into the many ways the EU relies on empirical insights and the potential on how scientific research can inform and support the policy process in its entirety!

For the past 1.5 years, I've supported research for EU Policy; it was now time to look at the other side of the coin!
During the intense residential week in Brussels for the Circle.U Seminar "Behavioural Science & Public Policy" the interdisciplinary exchange provided a lot of new perspectives.
🔬🍃 Face à l’urgence climatique, les scientifiques interrogent leurs méthodes de recherche. Comment concilier soutenabilité et excellence scientifique, afin que la recherche devienne une solution et non un facteur aggravant de la crise ?
Climate impacts aren’t just about money.
A new IIASA study introduces the wellbeing cost of carbon, measuring how today’s emissions translate into lost Years of Good Life (YoGL), especially for younger generations. 🌍

@helenezillig.bsky.social presents her research at the #ENLIGHTConference2025!
She merged over 1,400 nighttime visits to #BlueSpaces with satellite data measuring Artificial Light at Night ( #ALAN) to explore how the brightness of a location relates to perceived #safety and #wellbeing. 🌃
"Researchers found that artificial pollution at night increased ecosystem respiration: plants, microbes, and animals released more carbon dioxide. However, there was no corresponding increase in photosynthesis, the plant process that removes it from the atmosphere."

@helenezillig.bsky.social is a student assistant, supporting the #ZeroPM project and helping classes on #EnvironmentalPsychology run smoothly for both students and lecturers. In her Master’s Thesis, she investigates how people’s #nighttime experience of #BlueSpaces is impacted by artificial light. 💡

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals! Together with the UN Global Compact Network Austria we are raising the SDG Flag to show our sustained commitment to climate action, gender equality, biodiversity, and decent work! 🌍

Writing is thinking. We get students to write so that they learn how to think and use their brains. Using LLMs to do your work is like trying to be an athlete by getting someone else to do your training for you.

Inspiring & fun 2 days lie behind us. 🧠🌱💡
We had a joint #EnvironmentalPsychology meeting with the @scanunit.bsky.social at @univie.ac.at & the Consumer Decision and Sustainable Behavior Lab coming all the way from Geneva. 🚆
Research foci were presented, future avenues discussed and the freedom of science was protested for at #MarchforScience #StandUpForScience

❓ Why is psychology central to fighting climate change?
❗ Last November, @janakoehler.bsky.social and I answered questions like this one as part of the Kiss The Globe-Event. I summarised the most important points for the @envpsyvienna.bsky.social blog. ⬇⬇⬇

Proudly presenting the "EnvPsy Vienna 2024 Wrap-Up" 🎀
We are really excited to show you our year in numbers. Thanks for following along and all the best for 2025!
Hi there!👋 We are the Environmental Psychology Research Group at @univie.ac.at . We work various topics, incl. environmental #pollutants (PFAS, 5G, microplastics), #nature & health, #climatechange beliefs, climate #activism, #gamification, & #sciencecommunication. Follow us to learn more! 🌍🌿🌊🎮💬
- In public discourse, man-made climate change is often no longer denied. Instead, effective course of action is deliberately delayed. If we learn to recognise elements of these discourses of delay, we can also counter-argue and weaken them.
- If we don't invest in climate protection now, we will have to bear even higher future and long-term costs.
- Combating climate change is not synonymous with abstinence or giving something up, it is also a great opportunity for individual and social gain (better health, lower mortality rates, etc...)
- Not all supposedly pro-environmental actions are actually effective. For example, it is better to make a little more effort and mend a piece of clothing than to buy something new with sustainable production.
- Everyone really can do something to combat climate change. This something is different for each of us and doesn’t necessarily imply overhauling one’s lifestyle completely. An all-or-nothing attitude isn’t effective or helpful.
My favourite quote from Jana: ”We should focus on the fact that we need [...] a majority that does *something* instead of few people that do *everything*.”
The take-aways I hope we could make the audience remember:
