Covid is still spreading, disabling, killing.

The question is: what ELSE have you been doing to stop the spread ALL YEAR.

Doesn't even get into that healthcare is UNSAFE to access with airborne pathogens not being mitigated by layers of protection & universal masking. Constant outbreaks. People getting hospitalized from sickness, and some are getting sick from just being in the hospital! #keepmasksinhealthcare #Canada

After ignoring reporting on severe levels of spread in 2024 (oh look CIHI saying hospitalizations were up) Covid minimizer Lauren Pelley and CBC constantly adds flu and RSV to every mention... blurring the focus in this heavily vax & relax piece.āž•

Hospitalization rates for illnesses like COVID, flu have doubled since pre-pandemic, report finds | CBC News Striking new data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) shows hospitalization rates for vaccine-preventable respiratory diseases more than doubled in 2024, compared to pre-pandemic...

Covid is the priority. Still not the flu. Still not seasonal. Still not something you can vax your way out of.

🤦 Since? We're not since anything.

We're still in the Covid period.
We're still during the pandemic.

Canadians. Covid-aware and not. Choosing this. Travelling. Not masking at non-essentials. And worse. MAKE CHANGES. This isn't the right direction. Being Covid-aware isn't license for exception. What MORE are you doing to #stopthespread?

You missed most of the crucial opportunity of pandemic anniversary month attention to highlight these continued conditions. Is HIGH a bad thing? 1 in 84 appears worse than last round. Why have a public forecast if not to encourage behaviour CHANGE and doing MORE to stop spread?

This room of leftists are supposed to be the ones that care about public health. This party is supposed to be the one that cares about community. Again covid-aware Canadians, we don't really have a party looking out for us that cares about the ongoing, airborne pandemic. #CovidIsntOver #CdnHealth

A few masks at the NDP Leadership convention. This party is supposed to be the one that cares about Covid. The most visible leader Jill Andrew that is (sometimes) masking has it under their chin on stage, on national TV. Normalizing You-Do-You doesn't work. #CovidIsAirborne #CanPoli #CdnPoli #Canada

Who gave you positive feedback? LC advocates- most who aren't aligned with stopping spread and ending the pandemic. Every time you talk about long covid this month particularly you are leading people to believe the pandemic is in the past. #CovidIsntOver #CovidIsAirborne

Leading with and featuring Long Covid Awareness Month/Day/whatever and wondering why progressives aren't with the 'cause' is the problem and confusing. Long Covid tells them it is an individual problem. The cause isn't LC. The cause is COVID. The pandemic isn't Long Covid. The pandemic is Covid.

We're not "since" anything. Keep finding out.

Maybe we should be doing more to stop repeat infections. #CovidIsAirborne #CovidIsNotOver

Thanks for the repost @teachrprecarity.bsky.social. Just to be clear we were highlighting you as part of the problem. Your article choices further perpetuating confusion between covid pandemic action and long covid supports did damage at a crucial moment this month. #CovidIsNotOver #CovidIsAirborne

Covid is the priority. Not long Covid. We need to stop Covid. Long covid isn’t the reason all spaces are unsafe. Long covid isn’t the reason for hospital outbreaks and healthcare being unsafe to access. Covid is the reason. Covid is the problem. The results are many.

Posts talking about long Covid awareness but also that it’s six years into the pandemic just add to the confusion and minimizing. Long covid isn’t the pandemic. We need to stop pandemic spread. We need to protect the vulnerable. Long covid survivors are also the vulnerable!

1 month ago 1 0 1 0

We need to give survivors support but not by sending them back into danger. Sure, sometimes there’s mention of repeat infections when talking about long Covid. Language matters. All long Covid cases come from COVID infections.

We're not talking about rebuilding Ukraine before ending the war. Think about how lambasted someone would get for talking about rebuilding Gaza while they were still getting bombed (wait, didn't Trump do that).

1 month ago 1 0 1 0

Not that it has continued to spread, disable and kill every year with severe levels of spread in recent years. We're not in a better place. The focus needs to be on COVID now. You’re taking up all the air (pun intended) of us talking about the need to do more to stop spread. To end the pandemic.

1 month ago 1 1 1 0

Every time you talk about long Covid you are leading ppl to believe the pandemic is in the past. That it's some illness a bunch of ppl are suffering with since that bad period back in 2021.

1 month ago 1 1 1 0

The audacity to claim this week, no, now it's a whole month, as the time to focus on you, in this crucial moment when mainstream eyes are on us for a brief second is so damaging. #longcovidawarenessmonth #longcovidawarenessweek Language matters.

We're all connected and affected by each other's actions. The continued spread of COVID is the problem. Long Covid is the result. We need to do more to stop the spread and that means telling people it's a crisis that affects them. That is STILL affecting all of us. Long Covid survivors and more.

But that's so easy for you because then you don't have to stop doing whatever you want and everyone else is like "oh yeah poor them over there they need support but I don't have to change my own behaviour". It's not the same.
