Back a bit faster now. One month on. 5km in 23:04min (4:36/km). Took 70seconds off last month's 5km (14sec/km). Set off a bit too fast at 4:30/km pace for the first 2km...and it was cold. Took 3km for feet to warm up :) #devsWhoRun

I'm (almost) back! 5km in 24:14min (4:49/km) road running. Perfect cool autumn evening. Last run on this route, May 2024 (28:29min). Who'd have thought 5 months in gym working on Core, Strength, Weights, Bike and Treadmill would actually help! #AsicsGelNimbus so light. #devsWhoRun
Same! A short walk from the ExCel centre after a show, you can sit and watch the planes taking off across the water. Even better sat in the sun.
I still have my copy of "Creating Killer Web Sites".
Here's another YouTube channel (which you may have already come across): www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdKV... Again, another upgrade video :)
True, saw that. I wanted to do that with my garden too (I have a homemade ~2,500 litre underground water storage) for all garden usage. Downside is my garden is on a slope (~1.5m rise from patio to garage, not linear). Eg, Automate sub surface grass watering if hydro level low.
Not sure how much space you have in Brooklyn (on a roof?). If you only have one or two bed the automatic control might be overkill. I have two ways to check if I need to refill. 1) Dig into the soil to see where it is damp. 2) Look down the intake pipe to see if it is dry.
Storage for garden sofa cushion. Brown painted wood panels with black corner posts. The storage is open. Inside you can see (under plastic to stop things getting wet from any water ingress) all the cushions for the garden sofa. background is a garden fence with black fence posts.
I also made storage for the garden sofa cushions using the same frame (but with a wooden bottom). Still used damp proof lining, but then used some thin ply on top so that the cushions would not sweat. Width is the size of one fence panel. Attached to fence posts to help strengthen fence.
Four black corrugated pipes laid horizontally with vermiculite between them. The vermiculite is used as a wick for the water from the pipes to go into the surround soil and up to any plant growing in the raised bed.
Corrugated pipes laid out with vermiculite 'bedding' in to check everything works. Spoiler alert: Everything worked!
Nice. This was the actual video I used (I took note of the spacing between pipes): www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp9J...
I have only filled it once this year (so far) because of the wet Spring and the depth of the beds (about 60cm). The intake pipe is standard gutter downpipe (68mm). Easier to fill.
Thanks. Yes, holds water very well (the overflow outlet has been used). Before filling it in, I left the pipes (see a following post) open to the elements to see if any water escaped. It did not. Reason for damp-proof? I had a large roll in the garage :)
A raised bed showing it full with several potato plants in the foreground and several garlic plants in the background. All very green and happy plants.

Raised beds with garlic and potato plants. The garlics went in over winter along with some of the potato plants. I added a few more potatoes (I forgot I had put the potatoes in before), but with a slow spring they have really taken off. Not watered from above. One refill this year so far.
If you are interested in SIPs, watch this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHY5... I built mine from his version 1 video a few years ago. I pretty much did exactly what he shows, but used damp-proof lining instead of pond. Three years on and still going strong (see my next post).
Two raised beds/garden planters under constructions. Made in August 2022. The raised beds are dark brown painted wood in colour with black corner posts. They are both attached to a lighter brown garden fence (it too has black posts). The foreground shows a garden building site with tools and piles of soil. In the background are some old wooden pallets and a garage. Behind that the top of a house. The sky is blue with a few fluffy clouds (summer in the UK).
A close up of a finished raised bed/garden planter. Made in August 2022. The raised bed is dark brown painted wood in colour with black corner posts. It is attached to a lighter brown garden fence (it too has black posts). The raised bed has been filled with soil. It has a damp-proof lining inside because it is a SIP (sub irrigated planter). The in take pipe in a standard black pipe in the upper right corner of the raised bed. A green overflow pipe (cut from a regular garden hose) pokes out in the lower left corner of the raised bed.
Nicely done. Here are my two from almost three years ago. The are both SIPs (sub irrigated planter) and still working well! Only had to top them up last week for the first time this summer (almost no meaningful rain in London for a month).
True. Sounds like the station got an upgrade (new platforms?) or reorganisation and someone forgot to check how to navigate the place afterwards. Could be worse, could be Stratford in London where platforms 1 & 2 are next to 12 & 11 and there is no platform 7.
Do the directions for platforms 3-19 (left sign in the photo) indicate only stairs down to the platforms, while the other platforms 3-19 (right sign in the photo) show escalators?
The platforms 1-4 (left sign) suggests head towards 3-19 and then turn right.

Another step closer to mains water free/off-grid gardening. Used water from homemade underground storage (~2,500l capacity) under back garden. First time watering front garden grass from storage (via hosepipe) and 12v pump. Wasn't sure if pressure would be good enough, but it was.

Found this little gem on a page: <!-- ๐จ๐๐๐๐บ๐๐ผ๐พ๐ก๐พ๐๐๐ ๐๐พ๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐พ="/๐ณ๐พ๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐พ๐/๐๐พ๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐พ๐ค.๐ฝ๐๐" ๐ผ๐๐ฝ๐พ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐ฝ๐พ๐ง๐ณ๐ฌ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ซ๐๐ผ๐๐พ๐ฝ="๐ฟ๐บ๐ ๐๐พ" --> Still works on the web. The page even uses tables for layout. Good(ish) old days.
Same. So close, yet so far - they had one job to do.
A young person wearing a cap on backwards and wearing a gas mask. Painted in black line art style. The person is sat on the left of a white cloud outlined in black. The cloud style is like that of a weather forecast, but this cloud has a smiley face. Looks kind of like a friendly ghost. Balance, on the right of the cloud (the cloud's left "shoulder") is an open pot of paint. The paint is yellow in colour. The yellow paint has been used to paint a weather forecast style sun with five sunbeams radiating from it. Some of the yellow "sun" paint has dribbled down the cloud. The TRUST iCON signature mark is in the lower right corner. This was painted on the concrete support of a footbridge over a road in Thamesmead, London.
Another weekend walk, another piece of TRUST iCON urban art.

Very large art mural by WOSKERSKI under a road junction in Thamesmead, London. Probably between 20-25m in width. It show a sausage dog (miniature Dachshund) sitting looking pleased with itself hold a huge branch in its mouth. At one end of the branch (the left, thicker end) is a grey squirrel sat facing the dog. On the right side of the dog are two robin birds. One is looking at the dog (and closer to the dog). The other robin in perched almost at the end looking out, way from all the other animals. The dog, squirrel and robins are set on a background of green grassland with an orange sky (possible sunset). There are some trees on the horizon that could be pine trees based on their outlines.
Found about 20m away from the previous art.
Graffiti art under a road junction in Thamesmead, London. The art shows a woman (drawn in black and white on a mostly grey background) with a concerned expression on her face at the lack of a WiFi signal. Above her head is a black WiFi icon with a red line through it. TRUST iCON tag in bottom right corner of artwork.
Weekend walk and found this.
Same goes for turning off your phone instead of managing to take a screenshot.

this haptic display absolutely rocks. basketball is for everyone.
Another month, another curation. A dozen less over there. Slowly, slowly...
Off to AI and Deep Learning tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. Wednesday's evening will be at #lwsjan2025 down in Greenwich. After a promising start, slow end to last week (oh look, squirrel!). Got to focus ๐ค this week.
