I want to try writing longer nonfiction pieces for kids. Maybe MG? Novel or short story for magazine? We'll see. #kidlitchat

Lyrics. I've been thinking of it as poetry, and it's a *little* less daunting. #kidlitchat

I want to try my hand at writing songs! If nothing else, to be able to say, "not for me, thanks!" Ha. #kidlitchat

It feels so so good. And I even let myself enjoy it for almost a week before diving in with edits. Ha. #kidlitchat

Also, I'm trying my own NaNo, and scaling it waaay down (writing a chapter book; goal is 25k), which is much more manageable for me, especially without the NaNo supports. #kidlitchat

I'm attending the SCBWI conference for the first time in January. Who else will be there? 👀 #kidlitchat

The real brag was Andrew W who got to wear all the hats. Jealous. But second best role was Wise Woman. #kidlitchat

My first grade class did play of Caps for Sale, and I played the Wise Woman. I'm not bragging, but I'm totally bragging. #capsforsale

Not a teacher and not Poe, but my grandpa always recited a poem (that he learned in elementary school, I think!) to us in the winter: The Cremation of Sam McGee. Such a weird, creepy, but AWESOME ONE!! #kidlitchat

Every time I step over a toy in my child's room, I think, "just one or two more days and I'll be feeding the kids with a garden hose and a stick through the window." Ha. #kidlitchat

I loved Encyclopedia Brown! I've been chasing the high of figuring out the mystery before reading the solution ever since then. Definitely channeled some of that type of story into my middle grade novel... #kidlitchat

I love them so much!!! Haha. I don't allow myself to do them too often, because I really hyper-focus on them... not much else gets done!

Not my forte either. 😬🤔😭

Jilanne, I love your book RIVER OF DUST. I learned so much that I'd never heard of before!! I'm teaching Geography this year (6th grade) and excited to read it to the students later.
