I'm outta here." Viktor: "Good luck! Though you'll need none."

Page 8, panel 1. Back in the real world, Jayce begins coughing, and he does it loudly. His speech balloon is big and zagged at the edges, breaking away from black and white to be a mess of dissonant color. It echoes. The panel is a closeup shot of the lower half of his face as he turns away to spittle into his forearm and not viktor. He’s still coughing in panel 2, over a closeup shot of viktor’s horrified face. Lighting seems to strike past his widened eye as he realizes exactly where he is in the present. Panel 3, viktor scrambles to jayce’s side, crouching next to his body and placing his hands around his torso as if to stabilize him. Jayce sustains himself upright by his arms and laughs bitterly. He tries to say it’s nothing, i’m alright, but viktor interrupts him with: don’t lie to me. Jayce insists: I promise it’s nothing. I’m just cold is all. He keeps smiling as viktor looks on with worry. Panel 4 comes in like a quick recovery. Jayce turns to viktor full of unearned confidence, some drool still on his chin, and tries to put on a charming air. Shoddily drawn flowers pop up around his expression. He says: Hey… what if the only way to heal me is prolonged skin-to-skin contact? On the foreground, viktor is resistant to his flirting attempt, gritting his teeth. An exaggerated anime angry vein is pulsing on the back of his shoulder. Not funny, he mutters. You’re not going to distract me with a stupid joke, either. Panel 5, jayce sighs, being more honest. His gaze drifts down to address this more openly. He says: It’s just a sore throat, I think. I haven’t been really… eating… like I used to. More quietly, he continues; I hate to see you making that face. Panel 5; Viktor acquiesces. Lay down and i’ll stop, he says, huffing the tension away. Jayce responds with an offscreen but interested oh? End of page.

Page 9 begins with soft fuzzy white narration, stating: thus, you settle on this sleeping arrangement for the night. Most of this page is one huge skewed illustration of jayce and viktor cuddling while they share the singular fur collared overcoat jayce wore for the final battle. They’re using it as a layer to pad the ground and as a little bit of a blanket, jayce seems to have pulled one side of it to disproportionately shield viktor from the elements. Jayce’s happy and self-satisfied face is leaning on top of viktor’s forehead. Viktor is cozied up to his side, face resting on the crook of his neck. One of his arms is perched on Jayce’s chest. The floor of the cavern is dark and rocky, but in this moment it's almost as if it were filled with celestial stars. Are you sure you can rest like this? Viktor asks, and jayce replies with a joyful hum. Running towards the bottom of the page, the narration continues: You ask him if he’d like a bigger piece of the blanket, and jayce declines, like a loon. I’m already in heaven, he insists. You hope that’s just a figure of speech. Panel 2, a shot of viktor watching his partner’s expression keenly, head pillowed on jayce’s chest. He asks; come morning, do you think you’d like to stay in that town of yours? Panel 3, a closeup of jayce as seen from viktor’s lower angle. He’s relaxed, entering the meditation before sleep. His head sits above the coat’s fur. With his eyes closed, he answers in a quieter voice: If it’s peaceful, yes. Gods, I would love a vacation. The light from the bonfire seems to send wisps up the room. Narration continues to the side of his face, stating: he sounds distressingly older, when he speaks like that. End of page.

Sorry I havent been posting lately. Work has been consuming most of my time and energy nowadays. Ive been mostly drawing for myself to keep sanity.

I've thought about posting my sketches here though. I used to post them on ig but maybe I should just post it here.
