What a brilliant morning we have had at Messy Easter! Lots of children attended and made some fantastic crafts. Some really thoughtful comments in circle time about what we were thankful for and who we wanted to say thank you to

Christ is Risen!

Last night, the Easter Vigil marked the beginning of our Easter celebrations. In a service led by Bishop Mark, we joyfully declared that Jesus had moved from death to life and, during the service, several people were baptised and confirmed

Many Easter blessings be upon you all

This morning we handed out 100 gift bags to people on Market Street, and had some great conversations about this holy season. Along with a leaflet about Maundy Thursday, each bag contained:

A chocolate heart, a cross, a candle and a book about Christianity and prayer

Today's meditation is based on Isaiah 42

Canon Grace writes:

Jesus patiently heals what is bruised in us and nurtures any light within us, however dimly it burns. In a world that cries out for justice, we cry out for mercy and healing

What is your prayer to this servant of light of justice today?

Reflecting on today's Gospel (Jn 12.1–11) the Venerable Karen Smeeton writes:

Mary pours out a generous, loving response to Jesus without calculation -and this flows out beyond. Her devotion fills the whole space.
How do I respond to Jesus, and what fragrance does my life leave in the places I go?

A prayer for the installation of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Almighty God,
you call your Church in every age
to proclaim the gospel of Christ:
look with mercy upon your servant Sarah,
and grant that, as deacon,
she may care for those in need,
as priest, sustain us with the ministry
of word and sacrament,
and as bishop, guard the faith
and build up the body of Christ in holiness.
Give her wisdom and kindness
that as archbishop, she may promote unity,
seek truth, and lead us in the way
of righteousness and peace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The bells at Manchester Cathedral will always hold a special place in both my husband's and my heart.

We got married in July and it was one of the happiest days of our lives. There were so many special moments throughout the day, but the crowd that the church bells drew in outside the Cathedral created such an incredible atmosphere for both us and our guests.

As the bride, I remember getting closer to the Cathedral and hearing the bells for the first time on our wedding day, I had such a flutter of excitement and couldn't believe how many had gathered outside!

When we were officially married, the bells rang again and there was so much happiness and love from our families and guests as confetti was thrown.

We're both so privileged to go back to that special day with every Sunday we attend church and hear the bells ring!!
