I decided to indie pub because I felt my writing would be too niche for trad. I also wanted full control over the process and I didnβt want to slog in the trenches for years trying to get someone elseβs approval.

I wanted complete control over my work and I didn't want to spend years being rejected left and right for my stories being "too queer" which is what I was sure would happen if I'd tried to go trad.
It's a lot of work and money upfront-- and a lot of struggle-- but I won't give up.

Same here!
Awesome!
Absolutely. Look at that. That's β¨excellent tasteβ¨, my friend.
Here's to meeting goals and all the fun bonuses! π
Good luck! May the writing gods be ever in your favor! π
That sounds so cool! I hope you have a great time π₯°
Hell yeah! Enjoy yourself π
Exhaustion is the worst. Good on you for keeping goals simple and attainable. Good luck! π
Very cool. Good luck with it all!
Good luck with it all!

Honestly, I chose to be an indie author because of the control it gives me over everything. Sure, it means there's more opportunity for me to mess up (*laughs nervously*) and it's absolutely more work, but I enjoy doing all the aspects of getting my stories out there. π₯°
Thank you!
@nocturnalmask.bsky.social, this kind of looks right up your alley...
That's so exciting! Good luck with it all π
Very nice :) Good luck this week!
Oh heck yeah! Good luck!
I know, I know, #QueerWriters, I'm a day late. I still have GOALS, though!
- Jot down all of these plot bunnies in the desperate hope that they leave me alone.
- Write more on Darius & Morgan 2.
- Maybe finally start something artistic. I've been itching to, but mental energy hasn't been amazing.
If you haven't preordered this, now's the time to buy so you can get started reading it! π
Y'all, Y'ALL, there are 9 days left to back this amazing project. We have to get these vampire vibes. Just... just look at this amazing meme. Imagine what more is to come!

Murder commissions also make great gifts for the goths in your life! Folks have hired me to (fictionally) murder their parents, partners, and even their kids!
Agreed. Don't think I'd ever attempt it if the situation arose. Feels like it is NOT worth it.
The world has vibes of medieval/feudal China or Japan, which as an anime nerd, I'm all for. If you enjoy the aesthetics of, say, Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin (disregarding what the author of that series did), Heaven Official's Blessing, and the like, then this is a similar vibe. The characters fight with Japanese weapons (tanto, kunai) and study martial arts. On the villain's side of the story, we also get a look at the titular demons, each one associated with something 'negative' and each one with a name which is the Mandarin or Japanese word for its attribute. For instance, in this book, we meet Kanashimi (sorrow/grief), a draconic-demon who develops an interesting relationship with the villain
My friend Alyssa is about to publish the second book of her danmei-inspired Dark Fantasy series!! I'll be posting WYVERN reviews over the course of the next week, but to get started, I wanted to post the first book's reviews all in one handy thread!
Here's my review for Book 1: Dance of Demons
Hey, friends, I need your help for a fellow indie author:
We're looking for someone who can provide a sensitivity read for a Mexican American character. The author wants general support in how the character and his family are portrayed in this contemporary romance. Paid, of course.
Thank you!
Incredibly generous donations yesterday have pushed us to 50% of this goal. I cried a lot about it yesterday and this morning. I don't know what I've done to earn such wonderful friends and an amazing community, but I'll do whatever I can to make sure I return that support to you moving forward. π
