Who are we if not the people who toil in pursuit of better lives? A man and a woman pose with grim expressions in front of a giant red Chevy, bearing cleaning supplies in their hands. Vásquez is the daughter of Mexican immigrants, and this painting is an homage to our shared humanity, as well as a call for USians to remember that immigrants are the foundation of their hard-working society.

A “$5K baby bonus” could be a good idea so long as it’s not being floated as a replacement for the Child Tax Credit, which can be claimed annually for dependent children (not just biological children) up to age 17.
