Nothing, yet. Maybe finally learning naalbinding well enough to make socks for my own kit. :) These will take awhile to get done, so there's still time to find a next distraction, though.

Well. I guess Sunday's choosing violence. *sigh*

The first three rows of a knit silk stocking in red yarn with several stitch markers showing. The knitting is sitting on a purple blanket with the cone of silk yarn visible in a zip-closure plastic bag in the background.

Still not a fan of the Luminance - it's fuzzy and not reeled, so I'm worried about how well it will wear - but the teal silk Stockings with Clocks are at least finished. Eleonora silk stockings are next, but I may need a larger gauge alternate project to work on at the same time.

Oof. If you want your webinar to sound like a genuine conversation, but you script it all out word for word, you *must* practice with your co-presenter. Otherwise, it's VERY CLEAR that you're just reading a script and your attempt to "sound casual" sounds stilted and unnatural.

first time really tuning into a war? welcome. Let’s go over some rules of how to behave.

These are going to be especially important if it’s a war you oppose.

1. You are allowed an opinion. This is America. Whether you served or not. It’s done in your name so might as well speak up.

Apparently just in time because we're getting our first thunderstorm of the year tonight. April weather is weird.

You know it's a Friday when the entire team spends half of a meeting discussing zombie apocalypse teams and the other half agreeing that we're all with the dog staying over for the holiday this weekend who doesn't like people. (We *also* got to the intended topic, but the meeting ran an hour long.)

It's that time of year! My county Elections Team is looking for folks who can help staff early / absentee voting centers for the upcoming election season. If this is something you think you can help with, check with who ever runs your local elections to see what they need! #Election2026

Signs of being an adultier adult: feeling glee at someone else cleaning the gutters and adding gutter shields so it won't have to keep. being. done. because the Very Mature Trees in the yard are prolific.

*sigh*?

AI runs on metadata and foundational data governance, including usage, privacy, and sensitivity classification and business context provided by people who know how the business actually works. Trying to "do AI" without good governance is a waste of time, resources, and trust.

Photo of 21 what could be little balls of poo (and.. in a twisted sense, maybe should be called "poo bombs") but are actually cashew date balls with cocoa powder on a sheet of waxed paper. The balls are dark brown with pale flecks.

In an effort to figure out better-for-me snacks to have around the house, I made cashew date balls this afternoon. The temptation to just keep popping them into my mouth is real, but I know my body is unlikely to react well to that sudden spike in fiber! They're a winner, though, so yea!!

Heh. I'm not sure I'm up for a knit camicola - we'll see how I do with the stockings, first! Once I finish the stockings with clocks, I'll start the Eleanora stockings, but I'm also going to need something at a larger gauge to balance with.

Looks amazing!

I've been looking at some of the silk nightshirts and camicolas from the 16th/17th centuries, so maybe this can be a warm up piece for one of those! :D

ICYMI, #ThreadTalk is back! Am I doing it more regularly? Yes! Why? Apparently when my brain hits a certain level of stress, I express myself in fashion. Who knew?

Upcoming topics include seamstress guilds, the chemise, and toile!

If you've not already, you should check out @unlawfulentries.bsky.social new book! I'm not in publishing so I don't know if it's too late for you to get a galley (because I don't know what that is), though.

I'm assuming you've read @tkingfisher.com 's Paladin's books, and I'm not sure if they meet your threshold for light or fluffy, but if not, maybe those? Or Becky Chambers Wayfarers series (The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet) maybe? My definition of cotton candy might have too many rocks, though.

I suspect this may be One of Those(tm) questions that will inadvertently start something awful, but perogies are .. mashed potato and cheese ravioli?

They're awesome, but the addition of potatoes to pasta confuses my brain. (Gnocchi are the exception that proves the rule?)

A completed teal knit silk stocking with side clock detail underneath a partially knit stocking to complete the pair. The cuff and upper calf to through the start of the side clock detail is finished on the second stocking. The stocking is being knit on 2 fixed circular needles with red cords and silver needles, one end of each of which is shown.

Yarn: KnitPicks Luminance mulberry silk
Needles: US 1s, I think? Might be 0s but my needle gauge is in another room and I had a new-to-me Pilates class and a new personal training routine today so am NOT getting up to fetch it
Gauge: 14 sts/16 rows per inch

..and we've now reached the point when I worry that math has failed me and the stockings won't fit the recipient because they look wrong. *sigh* (They'll be fine; bespoke stockings don't always look like model stockings because *people* don't (always) look like mannequins.) 🧶 #MySCA

I have DPNs as well, but I *definitely* bend those. The circs are a good combination of flexible enough and substantial enough, with the benefit of two needle-starts per round instead of four. If I'm going to drop stitches, it's almost always at the start of a needle, so reducing that is good!
