Thank you for sharing your experience. Anti-inflammatories are like that. You feel better while taking them, but they do not address the root cause.

Persistent fatigue in long-COVID is not associated with peripheral inflammatory or cellular stress biomarkers: A cross-sectional controlled study Fatigue persists as a dominant and debilitating phenomenon in long-COVID, yet its underlying biological mechanisms remain unclear. While inflammatory …

Stavanger University Hospital, 96 participants found long COVID fatigue stayed severe about 69 weeks after infection, but blood tests for inflammation and cell stress did not explain it.

Chikungunya virus persists in joint-associated macrophages and promotes chronic disease in mice - Nature Microbiology Ongoing chikungunya virus replication leads to the accumulation of inflammatory macrophages and CD4+ T cells in joint-associated tissues. Inhibition of chikungunya virus replication during chronic dis...

University of Colorado 75,547 cells study finds chikungunya virus hides in joint macrophages and keeps replicating, driving long term inflammation and arthritis, and blocking replication reduced disease.

A mean decrease of -.43 in FSS may not be clinically significant. In Fig 2, you can see how all the FSS fatigue components decreased in a similar manner, even in the placebo. Fluvoxamine looks like it only made a slight improvement compared to the control.

Just 5 minutes in a Red-light LED blanket at the lowest setting sends my daughter into a flare-up. I think even "low doses" of red and near infra-red light stress cells; triggering autophagy and innate immunity.

ME: Swansea man was active but now he can't walk or talk at 28 Tomos is one of thousands with ME in Wales, with services described as “a desert” for those most affected.

Fair play to BBC news. They've written a host of pieces about Long Covid, and ME (CFS) lately. Insane that millions suffer in the UK but doctors are still not routinely taught about it. Meaning patients are often abandoned with no treatment beyond anti-depressants.

And history is repeating itself in the Long COVID arena. Some clinical trials are using the RECOVER adult research index which overweights some less common symptoms and an arbitrary threshold value of 12. A Korean trial declared anyone with a score of less than 12 as "recovered"!!

Sildenafil (Viagra) induces autophagy, a cellular cleanup process, particularly in models, by inhibiting PDE5, which increases cAMP/cGMP levels and activates AMPK while inhibiting mTOR. This mechanism helps reduce neuroinflammation, clear protein aggregates, and mitigate mitochondrial dysfunction.

A well done study. Very interesting that they compared idiopathic ME/CFS to Long COVID patients that meet ME-CFS criteria and found differences.

This is more than persistent viral fragments, this sounds like persistent infection (minus active production of SARS-CoV-2 virions).

Long COVID is here to stay—even in children Post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC, also known as long COVID) are complex, multisystem, long-lasting complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection that profoundly impact the daily life of those...

“Finding a cure for long COVID needs to become a top research and health-care priority. Although clinical trials in adults are ongoing and increasing in numbers, none have yet been launched for children….This delay leaves millions of children without treatment during crucial developmental years.”

Experts Call For N95s To Replace Surgical Masks As Flu, Covid Viruses Spread World Health Network experts urge WHO to make N95, KN95, or FFP2 respirators the standard for protection for healthcare workers, not inferior surgical masks.

'This level of exposure has significant implications, given the millions of people infected, the toll of long Covid..there is no curative treatment for long Covid..'

By promoting mitophagy, PFD lessens oxidative stress, a major driver of fibrosis, by clearing dysfunctional mitochondria that produce reactive oxygen species.

I do hope that tirzepatide tamps down LC symptoms. Here is a report from one long-hauler, "I tried Tirzepatide a few wks ago and it intensified everything, pain, neuropathy , autonomic system. It was terrible!!!"

SGLT2 inhibitors (like dapagliflozin, empagliflozin) activate autophagy, the cell's cleanup process, by mimicking a fasting state, reducing energy surplus signals (mTOR), and boosting energy sensors (AMPK, SIRT1)

I am concerned that JAK-STAT inhibitors will enable viral replication and worsen LC trajectories.

Medical codes of diagnoses common in our community that doctors should be using for billing & documentation. Whenever a study is done on prevalence of these diseases using electronic health records, these codes matter. If we aren’t coded, we aren’t counted. #LongCovid #MECFS #POTS #EDS

The U09.9 code is general, (Post COVID-19 condition, unspecified) ; providers also use additional ICD-10-CM codes for specific symptoms (like fatigue, brain fog, heart issues) or underlying conditions that characterize the Long COVID presentation.

At Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, 103 adults with long COVID received home injections of lidocaine with HP-β-CD for 36 weeks.

Quality of life and 28 out of 30 symptoms improved significantly with no serious side effects.

You know someone with Long COVID. They need you to ask about it genuinely. - The Sick Times If community-building is a bulwark against autocracy, then asking after one another might be a good place to start.

“When people asked, Why do you think it hit you so hard? it seemed to carry a tinge of suspicion. I must have done something wrong to bring #LongCovid upon myself as opposed to it being the cosmic car accident that illness so often is”

Germany’s Schön Klinik surveyed 3,345 people with long COVID.

Only 36% saw improvement after nearly 3 years of symptoms.

Almost 90% were on long-term sick leave and 97% rated their care as poor or very poor.
