A typed draft poem in free verse. It begins: “Chords beat a retreat / Thighs tighten / I’m smashing the cage.” Other lines include: “Tire tracks through birds on the bypass,” “Write & cross out her name over and over,” and “All you can do is wait / Until you can rip off your shirt & scream.” Refrains of “wait” recur throughout, with imagery of justice, apologies, rain, gold, and the turning of hands. The poem feels raw, restless, and unfinished.

My first #WednesdayWIPs. Working on a maleness poetry collab w/ @paulrobertmullen82.bsky.social. Pages of raw notes like this, no structure, just fragments. If you’re stuck in the same place: I get it. Keep going. #WhatAreYouWorkingOn

A close-up, shadow-drenched profile of a lion’s face, its eye hidden in darkness. Light catches its snout and mane, giving a sense of quiet strength and dignity. The text reads “#POEMSABOUT” and “#FIERCEBATTLE.” The Broken Spine logo sits in the bottom-left corner, shaped like a black ink nib.

I live in a lovely place. It inspires me a lot. Sometimes I walk to the coast and poems tend to arrive. Do you live in an inspiring place? #southport #coast #poetry

A dense spread of lush green leaves, layered and overlapping, creating a rich, textured backdrop. The words “#POEMSABOUT” and “#GREEN” are overlaid in bold white text. In the bottom-left corner is The Broken Spine logo, shaped like a black ink nib.
