[A frame from Spider-Man and the X-Men #2.]

Sauron, a vaguely humanoid pterodactyl creature, looks down at Spider-Man from atop his triceratops steed. Spidey's back is to the viewer.

Sauron: With the DNA liberated from the grave desecration you call a museum, I have perfected the saurianization process. You rice paper puppets will be given forms befitting Earth's dominant species.

Spider-Man: You can rewrite DNA on the flay, and you're using it to turn people into dinosaurs? But with tech like that, you could cure cancer!

Sauron: But I don't want to cure cancer. I want to turn people into dinosaurs.

Please note: I didn't say "even if you never art-ed again." Because I know what a terrible fate that would present for you.

But you are more than the things you make for others.

This is a feeling all to common among freelancers, especially when that validation is tied to material survival.

I know I can't excavate the feel for you, but I will say this: even if I never saw another bit of art from you again, I'd still like to have you around.

"What did he do?"

"Well, detective: he stole an hour from me, and then, just when I got used to it, he gave it back to me."

"Doesn't sound so bad to m..."

"Without interest. At 2 in the morning. For ***decades.***"

"Take the cuffs off him and open the door."

How I imagine the conversation going:

Pentagon: So, remember Project Insight from Winter Soldier?

Anthropic: Oh, yeah. What a disastrously dangerous application of tech.

P: Disastr… No! We need you to do exactly that thing.

A: Umm, no?

P: What kind of SkyNet patriots are you anyway?

IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE TRYING TO ENGAGE IN HUMAN CREATIVITY

and below the image

WOULD YOU LIKE SOME HELP WITH THAT?

"There's no use trying," she said. "One can't do impeachable things."

"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Orange King. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've done as many as six impeachable things before breakfast."

I just realized that the 2024 rules for multiclassing only fixed the rounding rules for the "half" caster classes (i.e. artificer, paladin, ranger), and not the one-third subclasses (arcane trickster, etc.), and I have a grump.

Nothing major, but it was a chance to clean things up.

Status Report:

Three grown, college-educated adults, with a combined age of 169 and a combined IQ of somewhere around 400, just had a five minute conversation as to why no one could bring themselves to break down the Good Box for recycling.

Love your artwork, and always enjoy watching your process. It's not something I could ever do, but understanding *how* it's done is delightful.

Absolutely.

Then again, you can fit "The Democratic Party has failed for decades to articulate a proactive platform that speaks to the needs, values, and desires of the American people." on a Post-It.

They're just gonna run on "Give us money so we can pretend to try and stop the GOP" again.

Now you’ve got me writing a whole story about a sentient spell in my head, and all I have is my cell phone to scribble it down…

My first reaction was "they didn't!"

But, knowing exactly the kind of person that makes those sorts of proclamations, I'm rather sure they did.

Solidarity, friend. Never work for free.

What's that? I only have 8 hours left to order this with a 10% discount? I guess I'd better get on it, then!

Wait. What do you mean I "already ordered one..."?

Every single federal judge—up to and including SCOTUS—ought to be looking at the actions of this government and reminding themselves exactly what the Bill of Rights was put in place to prevent from happening.

Because it's happening and these "originalists" are **shamefully** bad at it.
