A farm field with a wooden wagon flying a Canadian Flag.

We are taking a bit of a break today to spend time with our family.

Today we are celebrating the great country we live in and to acknowledge the treaty lands that we live on.

Yesterday our kids’ class went to Nose hill park only to come back to a couple in flagrante in the buff in the car next to the door of their school bus. Yet they ban the books?🤦‍♀️

Gluten free bread crumbs. Japanese GF Panko- I’ll still buy but bread crumbs are super easy to make and so expensive to buy. We save the bread ends, freeze them, dry them out, and pop them in the food processor.

We are a bit more than GF as we have a lot of food allergies but all our recipes are GF and wheat free. We do use GF oats as we are in Canada and they are considered safe here by Coeliac Canada. 🩵

Sounds like half of our Oma’s recipes. We asked how she makes her potato pancakes and it is by feeling the mixture to see if it is too wet or dry.

Making mushroom soup with an allergy friendly vegan white wine. Sooooo good. Perfect for date nights and dinner parties. You can use veg broth for an alcohol free family friendly version.

We are looking at opening a sister site - that uses Canadian grown produce & crops, meats, and products. We are looking to visit local farms and stores - it will take a bit of time to get it all sorted.

Hit us up with what you would like to see on a Canadian focused recipe and food blog. 🇨🇦

We are going to put less of a focus on allergy friendly recipes for a while. Many of our allergy friendly foods come from the US. It just feels wrong right now to promote anything American right now. We will still post recipes because having allergies doesn’t go away. 🇨🇦

Good old REAL maple syrup! I think we have almost as much stored in my pantry as the national reserve. 🥞🍁

That is a really good point. Any of note here? We are Canadian and it is legal here but I don’t know the first thing about it all. 🩵

We want to write an article about things you shouldn’t say to people with food allergies. What are some of the things that baffle you when people say them about your food allergies? #foodallergies

Awesome! Thank you. That is the teen that usually wraps Rob’s and tens 3 & 4’s. They have a lot of practice. 😂🩵

Thank you it’s good to know. We’ve seen some big declines in Rob’s mobility. Chairs are tough. He was diagnosed much younger than most patients. Usually patients are in their 50s at diagnosis. Not being able to be at the career he loved has been a hard blow. He has both poly and inclusion body.

We made a fun little video with the teens. They want to see who is the best tortilla wrapper for soft tacos.

Do you wrap yours like any of them?

Two pictures split by the words “free from gluten, dairy, egg chicken pot pie The Allergen Free Kitchen.com”. Top picture: a white plate with a serving of chicken pot pie. Fork along the bottom part of the plate. To the left the glass casserole dish with the rest of the meal. Bottom picture: a close up of the pot pie. Chicken chunks, peas, carrots, celery all smothered in gravy. The mashed topping is golden and pushed to the top of the plate to show the chicken and gravy.

Posted a new recipe for a chicken pot pie- except it has mashed potatoes instead of a pastry crust.

Chose this over pastry- GF, DF, Top 9 Free dough is tough to work with.

The gravy’s really good. Reminiscent of a fried chicken gravy.

I’ll check my basement. Most of it will be early 1990s though. I used to interview bands for my high school paper and went to all the hugs back in the carpenter union hall days. Mostly punk, some indy. Somewhere I have a vhs of an interview I did with Field Day for a class project.

Great list! Thanks for doing this.

I’ve put together a list on Bluesky of amazing people who are either full-time gluten-free digital creators or occasionally drop some brilliant gluten-free gems. This is a fantastic way for our community to connect, share, and grow. 🥖✖️✨

I swear half of my grey hairs are from Core updates and wondering if we will still rank. Having a website is not for the faint of heart.

Looks like something my kids would cobble together in the character shop. Half hulk, half CA. They would have spent hours making that only to have to shut it down to go have dinner.

Monster cookies are great with this brand. Have a recipe for mint chocolate ones and regular (ours are peanut free though)

Oatmeal raisin cookies but no one really likes those.

Baked oatmeal (oatmeal but different)

Streusel muffins

Fruit crisp

Grind for oat flour

Can make oat milk.

We host so we don’t have to worry. Everything is safe for anyone coming. We ask about allergies and food restrictions in advance and recommended products to make our faves. Food accessibility should extend to all days and reasons. 🩵

We had the pleasure of being a judge on the panel for the IVFF cookbook contest for the second year.

It is a really fun task to cook from new vegan cookbooks whilst looking at various aspects of the books.

We loved one that took second place “Real Superfoods” by Robbins and Dandrea-Russert.

Had a bit of fun putting this together to highlight how many meals we cook at home.
Our own version of a year end wrap.
With multiple food allergies not a lot of restaurants can handle them all so the best option for us is eating at home. That means a lot of time spent cooking. #allergyawareness

GF porridge is a staple here. Trying to convince the kids that a rice or quinoa based one will be as tasty.
