Had to do it eventually, so I got palette swapping support working at the voxel-by-voxel level.
Cool side effect of this approach:
- The player can repaint terrain.
- Palette cycling animation is possible!
- Supports procedurally-generated terrain types, reusing textures.

a 3D tree asset on the left, with an arrow pointing to spritesheets on the right. The spritesheets contain 2 albedo sprites (front and side) and 2 normal sprites (also front and side).
Did you know you can set up a scene and render it to a texture without any nodes in #Godot, by directly using the RenderingServer? We automatically generate billboard sprites for meshes this way.

All over the game world you can find figure tokens. If you spend them at a figure machine, you can unlock characters in the model viewer. It's just a fun extra I wanted to add. Collectibles never gate progression.

Being able to slow down time in an area and kick your own projectiles allows for some fun combinations with the Time Vampire weapon.
