Announcing the Ancestors Lost By Suicide Commemoration Project! Over the next year I'm releasing 1 biography a month for each of my ancestors who died by suicide. My goal is to celebrate their lives & contributions to their loved ones & communities. genealcymru.com/albsc-project/ #Genealogy

Thank you for sharing and I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂
You guys...? We did it. 🥰
We won the FULL NEW YORK STATE DEATH INDEX FOR 1880-2017!
We beat the largest government agency in the state of New York (@nysdoh.bsky.social), in the highest court of the state, through a Freedom of Information Law (#FOIL) suit.

My Dad's brother died in WWII. I've always felt his loss, though I never met him. This is my letter to Uncle Charlie. #genealogy

Thanks Patty!
It really is! I've uncovered documents that I haven't found in 30 years of research.
FamilySearch full text search changed everything I knew about my ancestor, Martin Kelly. I've summed up just how wrong I was and how we can make assumptions without having all the facts. #genealogy

Thank you all for your suggestions. The house does exist today in San Francisco, CA. I'm frustrated as the house was built ca 1870 but the oldest photo I can find is 1976. There's an historic house next door and I keep hoping I'll find a drawing or photo with my house in the background.
This is a really nice representation.
Well done!
A map of New England. This is the first printed version of William Reed's original survey of 1665.
On Saturday (4/19), I'm giving a FREE webinar hosted by the Wichita Genealogical Society called "Top 10 Published Resources for Early New England Research" at 2 PM EST (1 PM CDT)

For those of you who are doing a #oneplacestudy on a house, but there aren't any old photos of it, how do you overcome this to illustrate your project?
So proud! In Dec 2024, my great aunt Marie Alexine Lassalle was honored with the Congressional Gold Medal for her part in the Army Signal Corps Telephone Operators unit stationed in France in WWI.
It was a long wait for recognition for these women. #genealogy

The only time I've seen this is in Portuguese Catholic records where the baby wasn't expected to live. The midwife performed the baptism because their wasn't time to do things properly.
Join Jane Chapman, Barbara Tien, and me at 5:00 EDT this afternoon on ProjectKin Live at Substack as we discuss one-place studies.

Happy Birthday and hello to Taff!

I am on day 8 of my #WomensHistoryMonth series on my grandpa's first cousins. I originally wrote these 2-3 yrs ago. It's amazing how much more info has come online since or I've gained new perspectives of old docs. Plus my nitpicky rewriting. #genealogy

They look quite adorable. Same look Bix has before he jumps on the dining room table
This needs to be clarified. I don't necessarily want to test what happens when you cancel after doing a bunch of work.

This is Amy's video.

As a budget genealogist, I have ProTools now because there was a 6 month deal. But, I've canceled and resubbed a couple times since I don't need it every month. The FAQ seems to say some of the Network data would still be accessible, but not the network itself(?) 2/3
I am excited about Ancestry's new Networks. I have many #genealogy projects this would help. In the presentation, I understood this would roll out to ProTools users first, then to regular subscribers. However, Amy Johnson Crow talked to someone at Ancestry and the answer she got was "maybe". 1/3
I'm having a fantastic time at #RootsTech online. Congrats to @danielloftus.projectinfant.ie on his first RootsTech presentation!
I've sat in on a wide variety of sessions on different topics. I don't know how you guys do this in person. 4-5 sessions a day and my brain shuts down. #genealogy
I think I understand what happened now. Tuesday they put a limit on the number of sessions you could schedule per hour. Instead of using the schedule for recorded sessions, I moved those to my Playlist. The rest that couldn't be added to the playlist, I added back to my schedule.
Possible, but not all of them. One of the ones that dropped off was Daniel Loftus' session tomorrow.
Mine still say only 5. I hate to have to go through and click them all again. Sigh.
Online means the online sessions which most are recorded. You can add them to your schedule like the in person classes.
Has anyone checked their #RootsTech schedule on the website and found most of the events that you marked are no longer showing on "My Schedule"? I looked at the schedule Sunday and had 32 online sessions marked. Tonight only 5 come up for all 3 days.
I’m Dash. Mum has started an account here. She said it was for her, but we all know who is going to be the real star. 😁
Hello Dash. Nice to see you brought your mom over. Hope to see you in my feed regularly.
