Sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge

Sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge

Last week, I left #UX #design - and employment in the #tech world in general - for good.

Even as I change career paths, my commitment to you will be the same as ever - here to help and guide anyone in the UX community who asks, however you might need it.

A picture of me, raising my eyebrow, in my office.

Is it relevant to my post? Probably not. But posts with images do better, and I like the Green Day shirt I'm wearing in it.

#AI is a tool.

Not a crutch.

Not a replacement.

Not a coworker.

Use it to automate, reduce workload, and grease the wheels of your process. But don't remove the human from the designs. #UX #design

An elevator with floor buttons for G and 1-6. A sign at the right reads:

A large concrete staircase with an integrated ramp flanked by shallow, narrow steps that span the width of the structure. Three people are walking up the central ramp, which is embedded within the stair design. The layout is symmetrical but unconventional, blending stairs and ramp in a sculptural, abstract form. Metal handrails are present on the sides.

What at first might look like an #accessibility win could actually be a nightmare when evaluated with expert eyes. Implementing #a11y with knowledge, care, and caution is what creates successful interfaces that serve all audiences. #UX #design

It doesn't matter how great your #AI #automation workflow is if you haven't worked through practical #QA and #UX problems.

I, too, would be mad with this abuse of visual hierarchy, regardless of whether or not I was in Ngland. #UX #UI #Design

Our sites got bit by the Cloudflare issue.

It happened minutes after I had logged into our server and made some very minor page edits. I thought for a heartbeat I had taken down our site completely somehow and was absolutely freaking out.

I'm glad it wasn't me, but I may need to change my pants.

I can't understand why car dealerships have settled on the "abusive, gaslighting family" model of customer experience.

I want to buy a car *without* a salesperson convincing me that this dealer is the only one I can trust while the finance officer secretly schemes to bleed my bank account dry.

There's something magical about discovering a domain you owned 20+ years ago that you lost, got shuffled around between different owners, and thought you'd never see again, is free again.

It's absolutely made my morning to get back this small piece of personal history.

Broke Roger during assembly, but I'm tempted to leave him this way for historical accuracy.

A change your password form with, current password, then a field with the new that has a green check, and a field with confirm password that looks like it has the same number of characters, but it throws an error. All 3 passwords are masked, and there's an eye to unmask next to each field

Another episode of "why do you hate your users?", real life password form edition.
Today: a mandatory "change your password" form, that won't let user copy and paste the new password when confirming it.

Job search life:

Some days you spam semi-custom resumes and get a few dozen out the door.

Some days you spend hours crafting the perfect resume and cover letter from a job.

Through either method, my response rate (getting anything back at all after sending confirmation) is about 12%.
