Today at the Wheelhouse...
So proud of myself for NOT making another altar!
Hand built vessel: wobbly; I'm working on it. I'm in my Craggy Bits Era, so, texture!
From the kiln gods: little votive holder. Isuzu celedon.

I love the butterfly that's a "little extra" ๐ beautiful pics!
Solidarity on all of this!
Thank kiln gods for the Wheelhouse (and my fellow mudsters) today!
And for a fresh, new bag of soldate!
I say I won't make another altar, then...I do anyway.
Also, a cup, because scraps.
Seriously, I think this was the best place I could be today.
I'm attending No Kings's event, โNO KINGS [Monrovia, California]โ - sign up now to join me! www.mobilize.us/indivisible/...
Mooncroning at the Wheelhouse! ๐
Two small Wall Altars & the Psychedelic Turtle are now on the greenware shelf. Nervous/excited for glazing ๐ค
With the scraps, I hand built this little dish, but my ๐ฆ will need more work.

Psychedelic Turtle ended up with some octopus energy.
My patio is no studio, but I got an idea in my head...
Bottoms up - 3 holes for hanging.
Not the effect I expected, but I kinda like it!

Had to wait for Ceramics class to feel what this wanted to be.
My son says its giving psychedelic turtle lol
But I imagined it hanging upside-down with three skinny macrame ropes. Three holes added.
Kinda want to add more detail. One step at a time...

Another go at a table altar!
I'll add 2 more tiny shelves.
Not sure what else to do, but kinda want to keep it simple, clean.
The Broken Pieces, Mended motif has returned; feels like it should mean something.

It's spring enough for me.
I assembled this circa 2020 Rite Aid greenhouse today.
Some pots have asclepias fascicularis seeds and others have random native seeds
It's rickety as heck, but it's my little milk weed nursery so I don't care.

That is hilarious! Love his humor ๐งก
I won't let my guy near my face with his if he just trimmed - those whiskers are razor points!
Lol but that color and design is amazing!
It's impossible to ignore everything going on, but starting some scratch chicken soup is the good I can do today.

So so so glad to be back!
Just playing with shapes and tools today - I wanted to see what formed moment by moment vs. plan a form step by step.
Until next Tuesday, when I can discover what these want to be! #pottery #ceramics #handbuilding #clay
Quiet Monday late-morning walk at Mission Creek Preserve.
Stone houses to explore and a breezy walk.
In the creek only rivulets here and there sparkle in sunlight in spite of recent rain.
About 4 miles in and out.
That is gorgeous!
Creating keeps me from crying.
So I busted out the pizzelle maker.

I was SO looking forward to the first day of Ceramics class, and it's been cancelled (winter break construction not complete)!
Here's what I was going to work on:

Oh, and just wanted to say I've moved house again.
I completely forgot to holler, "Wassail!" yesterday, but remembered way too early this morning to call: "Godspeed the plow!"
Yay lol #oldfarmersalmanac
Just wanted to say, I have moved house.
RIP Bill Moyers.
He was my introduction to Joseph Campbell when I was a mid-teen.
Feels like losing a beloved teacher ๐
My Wheelhouse attendance has been spotty.
Moving house (and all that entails) has kept me away from the mud.
Escrow means I can get back in it!
A GD marching bear incense burner; 2 bisqued pieces; my newest piece, the 'bee bath'.

For me, it's pretty much the only thing top-of-mind right now.
Three small wet clay vessels with random curled edges and curved bases.
I have broken free from my stamp obsession! Yay!
So, you know when you try to replicate a shape and it's just not the same? Yeah, it feels like that.
But it's also something new; one shift here or there and it becomes the shape you didn't know you wanted.

Point Fermin / San Pedro
Near where my mother's ashes were placed at sea 21 months ago.
So I am here to have a picnic under a tree that just dropped a comically large sewing needle-shaped piece of bark on my blanket.
My mother was a seamstress.
These two monarchs joined mid air then landed on a valley oak branch. They were motionless for so long, then I turned, turned back, and they were gone.

Creatively, I sense I'm evolving; but this is some awkward phase where I'm not sure if I'm making flower petals or finger phalanges โ ๏ธ

From May 1, where I gathered a few blooms for Beltaine!
Coral mallow, yarrow, desert marigold, willowy mint, oregano (from my garden)
