#OTD in 1943, the US Court of Appeals ruled against Fred Korematsu and his case challenging the legality of Japanese incarceration. The court accepted that "military necessity" overrided personal liberties in a time of war. Still, the case will eventually reach the Supreme Court.

I'm really impressed to see so many students' essays about media and advertising point out that big brands are fooling no one with their pro-feminist stances - what about their company employees? Are they performatively feminist for sales or really progressive?

Sweet, managed to write a blog post tonight about Minotaur and start a new chapter in Someone Else's Life. It's not about the amount I write, but the act of writing that matters. It took me a long time to realize that. Better late than never! #writing

This is an incredible image of comet 3I/ATLAS, taken by Satoru Murata ICQ Comet Observations group on 16 November 2025 from western New Mexico.

Structure within the major dust tail from the comet is clearly visible, together with two smaller jets trailing the nucleus and maybe even an anti-tail.

After a few sparkling sunny and blue sky mornings, we have a damp and grey start here in south-east England - but we still have roses blooming to cheer us up.

There‘s something so beyond disconcerting to me that school teachers now let ChatGPT come up with exercises and lesson plans for them, even if they still edit it after.

Sony a6400, Sigma 18-50mm lens, f/8, 1/30s, ISO-200, 18mm.
I had to kneel on the ground to get this shot, and at 73, that ain't easy. A guy was strolling by behind me with his dog and saw me struggle upright, and I laughed and said, "Gets harder every year." He smiled; he was older too. :)

This path leads down to the river. It's long and steep, but one day soon I'll follow it! The pretty leaves on the ground were on the trees just a couple or three days ago. That's how quickly they fell where I live.
