A fun day with @timeteamofficial discussing the results of recent conservation treatment.
The finds are still top secret for the moment, but all will be revealed in the future. The only thing missing was the company of @richardosgood.bsky.social #archaeology #ArchaeologicalConservation

Today's object return was to Bentley Foundation Museum, Oxford. This number 32 is from Tim Birkin's 1929 500-mile race at Brooklands. Made of Rexine, it received conservation to remove old cellotape and improve framing materials
It's was also given a light surface clean.

I really enjoyed my conversation with Pieta @drakonheritage.bsky.social for the latest issue of British Archaeology @archaeologyuk.bsky.social Drakon are doing great work to demystify archaeological conservation, keeping the focus on people as much as objects.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Pick up the latest issue @archaeologyuk magazine. Along with other fabulous content, you can read all about Pieta's conservation career (so far....) on page 52! #archaeologylife #archaeology #archaeologicalconservation

Under the microscope today, a small mount. Cleaning has brought out the original gold gilt surface. I'm not sure what the design is.... archaeology meets cubism? #archaeologicalconservation #Archaeology #art

This week in Irchester Coin Club, we all learned how to clean and conserve our coin assemblage guided by world-class conservator Pieta Greaves. The students were machines and managed to clean nearly 300 coins in 2 hours. No one licked any of them! #roman #coinage #collaboration

January has gone fast! One of the many things we did this month was carry out a AIM Conservation and Care Audit at Yorkshire Air Museum. A fabulous collection. Loved this advanced flying school certificate from 1942. #Collections #collectionscare #conservation

Love the tool marks on the base of this Roman object. While cleaning, I find myself trying to make pattens in the random chisel marks and wondering what tools made the small holes. ##ArchaeologicalConservation #Archaeology #Romans #roman

It's always fun when you are unpacking an object and it comes with a bonus little friend.
