A) This is amazing
B) I kind of want to see great matches captured as 3d sculptures, like they did with chess matches.

I would really like to be able to discuss Tolkien's world online without having the language co-opted by awful tech companies.

Years ago, my Mother-in-law began reading, "The Exorcist".
She said it was the most evil book she ever read. So evil in fact, she couldn't finish it, took it over to the beach and threw it into the ocean off a fishing pier.
I went and bought another copy, ran the faucet over it and left it in the night table drawer by her bed.
My Father-in-law said that night was the first time she ever screamed and fainted.
I'm going to Hell, but I'll go laughing.

Feminists for ages: we are not just vaginas and baby making parts.

A trans woman enters the room.

Those same feminists: we are only vaginas and baby making parts.

Fucking clowns.

TFW someone says "it wouldn't be too far" about a trip that's... at least 6 hours, depending on whether they mean Denver City or... like. Actual Denver.

This new Protestant reformation of rejecting papal authority to support a dude who loves transactional indulgences is fucking wild.

Not going to lie and say I even really know what I'm looking for, other than something that feels less like homework, but I'm always looking.

It's been 25 years, and my gaming white whale is still a magic system I can use with Amber Diceless that accurately reflects the feel of magic in both the first and second series without being what was written into the game rules.

Addendum to this morning’s rant on RPG weapons:

I have played some CRUNCHY games. I have Phoenix Command death stories. Despite all this, I have only ONE game I can point to as having generated really good, toothy, fun player investment in the nuance of weapons.

That game was Amber Diceless.

American Archive of Public Broadcasting A collaboration between GBH and the Library of Congress with a long-term vision to preserve and make accessible significant historical content created by public media.

This is great!

The American Archive of Public Broadcasting, to their eternal glory, have digitized more than 7,000 public radio and television programs from 1940 to the present.

It's a treasure trove of historic newsreels, interviews, speeches, and more.

Don't assume that because I currently have a grudge towards Pathfinder 2 and less of a grudge towards D&D - and commented at a slight tangent to your post - that I'm a corporate drone or only get D&D.

Or to put it much more concisely:

Honey child, my familiarity bias is towards Amber Diceless and White Wolf. Your assumption that I only understand D&D and am enslaved to Hasbro tells me you did not come adequately armed to this party.

Most days, I'm fine.

But some days, someone assumes familiarity bias on a quick comment I made on their Tumblr post about D&D and P2E, and I choose to conduct violence against their confirmation bias.

"Article generated by [AI] based on prompting by me". NOPE.

If you didn't care enough to write it, why should I waste some of my precious dwindling life reading it?

...I'm not saying the reason so much of the small-fry horse industry is on Facebook is that horse people tend to not be that techie, but... I did just get a response to a boarding inquiry I'd sent though their website *two months later*...

AI Use Appears to Have a "Boiling Frog" Effect on Human Cognition, New Study Warns A new study claims to offer the first causal link between AI dependency and cognitive erosion. Researchers warn of long-term implications.

NEW: A new pre-print study offers the first causal evidence that outsourcing reasoning tasks to AI can rapidly erode users' independent performance AND their will to persist despite difficulty.

"People’s persistence drops... they’re also not willing to try without AI.”
