As it's the 1st of the month I'd just like to bump this again (and it's not an April fools day thing)!
All the necessary is set up and the cancer research event pack arrived too.
All we need now is more players and, if numbers grow enough, more hosts.
So tell a friend, acquaintance or a passer by!

Humidity and temperature can play a part I believe.
One of the great moments in antifascist cinema history. Casablanca (1940). Patrons at Rick's Café drown out the Nazis marching song “Die Wacht am Rhein.” with a rousing “La Marseillaise”.
A scene in spirit for January 2026. (whatever the complexities of that French anthem today)
Best chopper sound, without a doubt!
That looks interesting 🤔
Bit of Snorkers (Good Oh!) tonight with Pip. Night fighting in the Java Sea 1942.

Iconic photo of Marina Ginesta shouldering a rifle on a rooftop, shown in front of the building in Placa Catalunya she was stood on top of when it was taken
A milk label from when industries were collectivised and the anarchists were running the buses, the cinemas, catering etc. the label says “Socialised dairy industry: CNT milk”
Two postcards, one an illustration of a militiawoman with a resemblance to Marlene Dietrich, the other showing a group of men admiring the illustrations in poster form in 1930s barcelona
Famous antifascists poster of an espadrilled foot crushing the swastika
One of the best things I’ve done in BCN is @spaincivilwartours.bsky.social tour - a real deep dive into the history of the civil war through the city streets. You get to see and handle an utterly unique collection of archive photos and objects from the time
Building with a ghost sign saying “plaça of the unknown militiaman”, a remnant of the Spanish civil war which was only uncovered in 2004
A rusty tin, the kind that open with a key, held in front of a photo of international brigades at the front eating rations out of the same type of tins
Well-known to me, a photo of the Glasgow district roll of honour banner listing the names of the men who died in Spain
A box of matches produced by the CNT, the anarchist trade union
The knowledge that Nick has of the era is absolutely incredible, as is his skill at communicating the complex politics of the time to a contemporary audience. A masterclass in popular history! @spaincivilwartours.bsky.social
Roman Barcino, 985 CE superimposed on map of Barcelona in 2022. Note. Barcino was pronounced "Barkino" with a hard K. By Jorge M Corada for @despertaferroed.bsky.social magazine
Just finished up this tour with Nick and I can say it is absolutely worth it! One of the best travel experiences I've had. His knowledge, passion, and friendliness are unsurpassed. Thank you, Nick! @spaincivilwartours.bsky.social
My grand uncle (grandma's brother) used to sing this down the pub 🤣🇬🇧
I'd be interested to know where this is in Oxford Nick. Thanks
Cheers Des, found them.. Winced at the price, but you never know😉
Looks good. Who makes that??
Yes wasn't overly impressed on my last visit. Mind you, the Science Museum was worse imho
Roman roads of Hispania in style of a metro map. All roads don't lead to Madrid. Via excellent map-obsessed.
On this day, 19 July 1936, the rebel Spanish military rose in Barcelona against the elected government. An unusual combination of anarchist and other workers with the loyal police, often fighting side by side, defeated them. By the next day. 450 lay dead. Photo Pérez de Rozas
From humble beginnings to the biggest 6mm show in the world! Had so much fun and met so many great people in the hobby over the last 12 years. The Joy of Six, 13th july in Sheffield. I will try to make an effort, perhaps you could do too by reposting this? More here www.joysofsix.co.uk
A photo that has long intrigued me. CNT militia fighter at the Bakunin barracks, Barcelona, summer 1936. Anybody know who he/she is? Won't be from US given the date. Moroccan? Spanish Guinean? Cuban? And photographer? ( Antoni Campanà?)
A nice map by Mile Hall showing English author Laurie Lee's walk across Spain on the cusp of war in 1936 which he narrated in "As I walked out one midsummer's morning", one of the greatest walks in English literature.
Looking forward to them being released 🤞
