This program is only one example of how ICE is using its enormous slush fund to ramp up criminalization across the country.
We must demand answers on what money is going out the door, where it is going, and what it is being spent on — from local agencies and DHS.
We don’t know how agencies “earn” these incentive payments or what they’ve done with the money they’ve received. We DO know more money to law enforcement can actually make us less safe.
Two most concerning updates:
1) The payout includes HUGE incentive payments to certain agencies, over $40k per officer.
2) Since the start of Feb, 215 new agencies have signed TFM agreements (101 in Feb alone — an avg of 5 every business day) bringing the total up to 976.
We turned the ICE payouts ledger into a readable dataset so you can easily look up if your local police department or sheriff has accepted money from ICE.

🚨UPDATE: In Feb, @fwd.us sounded the alarm on an ICE program to deputize local police officers and sheriffs under the 287(g) Task Force Model. Now thanks to @kenklippenstein.bsky.social we can see that ICE has already paid or promised $257 MILLION to 282 state and local law enforcement agencies.

Going to Laredo to visit Juan Velasco, a DACA recipient picked up by ICE while on his way to visit his newborn in the NICU.
The Trump Administration has arrested hundreds of DACA recipients since January 2025.
These are good, hardworking people. Not criminals.

Stephanie Villarreal is a U.S. citizen and mother of 3—her youngest is 9 weeks old. Her husband was on the way to visit their newborn daughter in the NICU when ICE arrested him. He has been locked away in Laredo, Texas, at a for-profit detention center—unable to hold his baby and raise his children.
Just visited Juan Velasco. He’s an honest, hardworking Dreamer who works in healthcare. Today he’s sitting in a prison in Laredo, TX missing his family that includes a two month old baby girl. youtube.com/shorts/q7pDf...

Maria de Jesus Estrada Juarez, A DACA recipient, was recently allowed to return to the US after her unlawful deportation. Reunited with her daughter – her story is a rare victory and a reminder of the ongoing attacks on DACA recipients.
NEW DATA from @fwdus: ICE has paid or promised $257 million to 282 law enforcement agencies across the country. We break those payments out by state and type of payments.
@felicityrose.bsky.social our VP, CJ Policy & Research, makes it clear that these $$ incentives won't make us safer.

Maria de Jesus Estrada Juarez, a Sacramento DACA recipient, is finally home. After a grueling 40-day separation from her home and her daughter Damaris, a federal judge ordered the government to undo Maria’s unlawful deportation and be allowed to return to the U.S.
Children and families do not belong behind bars.
Yesterday, @joaquincastrotx.bsky.social and @repcasar.bsky.social joined @fwd.us and @fams2gether.bsky.social to highlight the awful conditions and call on DHS to release families detained at the Dilley ICE Detention Center.

Protecting America’s workforce means protecting immigrants. Our panelists made clear that immigrants make up a large share of the skilled, labor-intensive workforce, and that increased enforcement and shrinking legal pathways are threatening key industries & the state’s economy.
As part of our Protect America’s Workforce campaign, we heard from economists, demographers, immigration law scholars, and business leaders on the role of immigrants in the workforce, their economic contributions, and why expanding legal pathways matters. www.fwd.us/protect-amer...
