The old sub-light engine's pistons #hammered away, the din getting louder and louder, as the ship approached light speed.

"How can you stand that noise?" Barb asked Kaikron the corsiar.

He twisted a knob on his head. "I turn my hearing down. Lost my actual ears in the war."

By the time #word reached Earth that the Starburst Confederation had broken through their line, the line was gone.

Earth's colonies at Vega and Proxima broke away from the Alliance and joined the confederation.

New Roma, the only colony with the resources to do so, stood alone.

"Time #Loops are child's play," said the old scientist to his protégé.

"You can loop time?"

"Me? Certainly not! Haven't you been listening? It's child's play. I forgot how centuries ago. And so did you."

"Centuries?"

A closeup of a Black dog, probably a schnauzer/poodle mix although the owner never did a DNA test, with gray around his muzzle and eyes, his nose prominent in the photo, in a backyard with a contented look on his face that says "hey can I have a pretzel?"

They couldn’t land on the surface of the planet, because there was no surface. The smallest gas giant in the Five Systems. Anything trying to stop on the topmost layer of the atmosphere would #sink and become lost.

Where then, Dylan thought, had the last raider ship gone? Into the clouds?

Whoa 🤯

The Moon, in full eclipse, with the #Artemis II Orion spacecraft. Part of the Moon and spacecraft are lit by Earthshine, and both Saturn and Mars are visible to the lower right. Incredible. Details: images.nasa.gov/details/art0...

A group of three interacting spiral galaxies which resembles a question mark. At the top of the frame are two spiral galaxies in the process of merging. One of these galaxies has a bright yellow core connected to a short bar and two loose spiral arms. This forms a S-shape. Above this is another circular, yellow galaxy core which overlaps with the top spiral arm of the S-shaped galaxy. On the outer edges of the spiral arms are blue star clusters. Together these form the top curved half of the question mark. To the right of the S-shaped galaxy is a small, relatively normal-looking spiral galaxy, which is likely in the background. At the bottom of the frame is another large spiral galaxy. This galaxy has a bright core and somewhat ill-defined spiral arms which wind counterclockwise around the core. On the bottom half of the galaxy are blue star clusters. This forms the dot of the question mark. Connecting the merging galaxies at the top of the frame and the spiral at the bottom of the frame is a string of blue super star clusters, seen as large blue dots. This forms the straight part of the question mark. On the black background of space are several yellow and red dots, which are background galaxies.

Late again, but the convoy had put up a good fight. It was just never good enough.
