The activist group Art Not Genocide Alliance (ANGA) has formally delivered a letter to the Venice Biennale’s president and board, requesting the exclusion of Israel from the 2026 exhibition artreview.com/182-venice-b...
I wrote about Nintendo for @artreview.bsky.social — on the company's genius marriage of pastoral nostalgia with acquisitive hyperconsumerism, and how longform video game experiences breed IP intimacy.

Avery Brooks as Cpt. Benjamin Sisko in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."
In 1993, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" made a Black man the star of a major sci-fi franchise and his character was like the Platonic ideal of a loving father, a great cook, a man who uplifted others, who was kind and tolerant but MILITANTLY so, and who also had flaws like any other human. Hail Sisko
Guerrilla Girls mail art that reads: How to become a Guerrilla Girl! 1. Think of the name of a black woman artist. 2. Pass it on to a curator or collector.
Tired of the relentless sexism of the male-dominated art world, the Guerrilla Girls deployed bold poster and mail campaigns used to publicly call out individuals and institutions.
They used irony as an aesthetic, hot pink colors, and ultrafeminine language to deliver scathing critiques.
Absolutely slammed on this side, but here's a little glimpse of how our first person card game looks in engine.

Star Trek has always been woke, if that's the term you want to use. Intolerance and prejudice is the utter antithesis of what it is. People who hang onto social norms from the 60s as justification for prejudice now are disgusting idiots. If you dislike Star Trek now, ok. Don't campaign for its death
Hey, librarian here. If you find out a favorite author is a monster, don't separate the art from the author just give it the fuck up and stop supporting the monster.
Fuck yeah. Abandon all assholes and read better books.

Today is the birthday of actor Leonard Nimoy. His most famous role, Starfleet Commander Spock, is one of my favorite fictional characters of all time, and he was a big influence on me when I was a kid. Thanks for all the memories, Mr. Nimoy.

When I point my remote directly at the television, it barely works.
However, if I accidentally sit on it, it will switch from Peacock to Netflix, turn on closed captioning and start the microwave in the other room.
A large building that looks reminiscent of a filing cabinet
📍Start on Temple Street at the Hall of Records
A rare high-rise by modernist architect Richard Neutra and his partner Robert Alexander from 1962.
Neutra described it as the "world's largest filing cabinet" in its blend of ornament, sculpture, and sleek form.

"The world Pet Shop Boys evoked to me back then was less kitchen sink drama, more film noir... This was a gay underworld, unspoken and largely invisible." Thanks @grindrod.bsky.social for this wonderful essay on PSB, the suburbs & sexuality:

St Anselm Catholic Church and St Louis Abbey, built in 1962 and designed by architect Gyo Obata of Hellmuth, Obata Kassabaum.
This is probably my favorite mid century Catholic Church in St Louis
“Fascism, it’s always about using nationalism, and the nation, as a bludgeon to generate support for death policies, on behalf of death governments. For violence and repression and exploitation, internationalism is the antidote, always.” —Robin D. G. Kelley
icymi: a small chicago real estate firm with two properties in evanston also owns a private prison in colorado—and it’s renting that prison to ice.
my look at highlands reit and flood of cash flowing to money-hungry capitalists that’s fueling the rise of fascism:
What is this all about?? Let me try to explain. It's important, because it's actually about @seasocialhousing.bsky.social and it's about Alzheimer's and heart disease and asthma, and rich homeowners keeping you sick and housing rare and unaffordable. And what you can do about it THIS MONTH.

Ever wondered whether Apex's E-District map had a functioning roadway system in the city? I did, and I just spent 8 hours making a road map for it, including names!
