Posts by Dor Cosby Atkinson - querying The Mythos Game πŸΉπŸ€–πŸ’˜

I had one of those days where I got to know myself better. You know the ones? Oh, that's what matters to me. Oh, that's the sort of thing I struggle with. Oh, that's what I'm really passionate about. Learning days. 🧑 Meanwhile, two queries sent. One job interview down. Breathe in. Breathe out.

Well, if anyone's looking for a YA dystomance taking the no-teacher school thing to the next level, I've got you covered. #amquerying

Thank you, I'll add that to my list!

Thank you so much for these titles!

I know they love sci-fi. Fantasy, too, I think. They mentioned they loved Nimona and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I suggested Aiden Thomas's books, and I'd love to have a few more good YA / NA titles to suggest.

Thanks for the awesome list. Can you tell me which ones would be great for a 16-year-old who loves SFF?

So, it's been a full month, and I've only sent 3 queries.

Guess I better get cracking! 🏹

Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"You're all fabulous. Now go home and memorize your lines."

Spoiler: Toward the end of my YA sci-fi, my MC discovers she has seven siblings. Of a kind.

And yeah, maybe it is a bit autobiographical.

Even weirder, I didn't even notice the connection until I was writing it.

Not sure what's weirder: life or the writing process.

Philip K. Dick: In my short story "Sales Pitch" I invented the fasrad, an autonomous commercial AI that destroys your life and drives you insane, as a cautionary tale

Tech Company: At long last, we have created the fasrad from classic sci-fi short story "Sales Pitch"

My antagonist is the CEO of Mythos Corp. Picture Ariana Grande as Glinda with a scalpel. Work IS play, and that involves teetering around on sparkly pink heels while replacing a victim's organic parts with circuitry. In the end, ta-da! Myth-based cyborg πŸ”±πŸ€–πŸ©·

I think everyone should probably stop what they're doing and look at @kameronhurley.com's adorable duck posts. I'm up coughing at 4 am, and it's all my brain wants or needs right now. #writingcommunity

Looking forward to kicking this dastardly illness so I can do things like work, talk, write, and query again.

Oh, and breathe deeply... without dissolving into a wheezing, coughing, aching, so I can't rest, ocean floor creature.

Below, actual footage of me.

#amquerying... next week?

Okay, you're officially more hardcore than me, @billeisele.bsky.social, because I haven't even watched the original anime. πŸ˜†I've only watched the live-action version! And @sjmontgomery.bsky.social, I'm also eagerly awaiting Season 2! I'm obsessed with rebels, so I love all these pirate narratives.!

Yes, I would say it definitely has a corny edge. And that makes perfect sense now that you say that!

Okay, good to know. Thank you!

I resonate with your posts because all MGs and YAs I've written feature MCs leading rebellions.πŸ”₯How do you feel about YA dystomance / sci-fi? Mythology?

I have a YA dystomance / myth retelling I'll be sending your way shortly.

a man with long hair and a beard is looking up at something in the dark . Alt: The actor who plays Sandokan, with long hair and a beard, is looking up at something.

Is anyone else watching Sandokan? Okay, the writing feels kind of predictable, but somehow it has managed to hold our attention up to the end. Even with the large amounts of eyeliner and heavy-handed theme song, it's pretty entertaining!

P.S. Speaking of pirates, @billeisele.bsky.social...! πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ

Oh yeah, I should check that out! I'm still so unaware of fun things happening on Bluesky, even though I've been on here a couple of years.

I love the weeknight writers concept, because most of my writing gets done 9:30 pm - 1 am! (But it's best if I go to sleep by midnight. πŸ˜…) I'm about to start querying a #dystopian #YA but I also write #MG.

The laws in my MC's city force citizens with no tech in their bodies into a fenced-in slum. Like clones, they're limited in the type of jobs they can access.

If you commit a crime, you're bound to end up in cyber-cells which are absolutely no fun at all.
