This Saturday in Bristol, a disingenuous “unity protest”, has been organised by the far right - open to people of Christian, Jewish, Hindu and Sikh faiths. Which major religion is missing from that list?...🤔

ian huntley is dead. i'll always remember how the british press attempted to incite hatred against the trans community by reporting he was transitioning, then apologised to him for incorrect reporting instead of apologising to trans people

New hyperlink (that hopefully works).

Also, the touch screens are particularly problematic for those countries that drive on the correct side of the road (left). We have to use our left hand to operate the screens, which for most people is the least dexterous.

It’s men who caused the climate crisis – but it’s women who will suffer the most Women across the world are having their lives torn apart by the climate crisis – and the UK government is turning its back, writes co-leader of the Green Party Carla Denyer

Happy #IWD. Women bear the brunt of the climate crisis. But men dominate climate decision-making, and mega-rich ones like Farage, whose party is backed by oil and gas, set the climate back.

I wrote this last IWD, but it's still relevant…👇

The home secretary talks about her reforms to the asylum system, including reprocessing applications every two and a half years, as a means to end "pull factors" for refugees. This shows a disturbing lack of awareness about the current system.

The majority of those seeking asylum who we work with come to the UK because they have existing ties to this country. It is where they feel the safest in rebuilding their lives after fleeing war and persecution.

Despite the home secretary's claims to the contrary, the Home Office has neither the ability nor the resources to implement this policy in a workable way. We already see initial applications taking more than a year. To increase the number that need to be reviewed is unfeasible and costly. Not only that, it would leave people seeking safety and security in limbo, at more risk of becoming undocumented and exploited.

This is a policy that is not supported by evidence, and instead has been designed to grab headlines with no thought to the harm it causes those individuals who hoped that they may find some safety here, and the economic and social costs to all of us.

My response in the Guardian to the Home Secretary's changes to asylum rules, and the utterly false claim that Labour's hostile and Inhumane anti-asylum policies reduce "pull factors".

Was quite a relief at the start of the week - I found fascist graffiti in the building entrance and wondered if I was being dramatic, but one of the local antifa said no, that’s a new development in this area, and cleaned it up. Things are slowly but definitely intensifying in Berlin.

Honk if you hate Elon sign and protestor inappropriate frog suit

Legal ways to dissuade people from buying a Tesla:

✅️ Join your nearest #TeslaTakedown protest
✅️ Give Tesla owners a look of disgust
✅️ Report any Teslas parked illegally ASAP
✅️ Get an anti-Elon bumper sticker
✅️ Have a massive family row at Christmas with that weird cousin who thinks he is a tech bro

Take two seven year olds in a primary school in the Prime Minister’s constituency.

His Dad is a banker
Her Mum is the cleaner at that bank

Is the Government’s Ipoproposal that richer child gets permanent status at age 10 while in primary school & working class classmate not until they are 22?

The ‘Crazy’ Plot to Release the Epstein Files How an unlikely duo of lawmakers partnered with victims to try to hold the powerful accountable

At least 6 Trump Cabinet members or senior administration officials were in contact with Epstein. It is unclear if these relationships w/ Epstein were raised in background checks or security clearances. Every agency involved declined to answer my questions. www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

What the Greens did is the opposite of sectarianism. They looked at what the British public might be interested in and what unites them. Muslims don’t just vote on Gaza you plebs. They’re in the economy, housing crisis and using the NHS too. We’re whole people.

Mad that everyone from Stewart to Starmer to Badenoch to Farage is talking about sectarianism when all the Greens did was consider how British Muslims might vote. Is it sectarian to think about faith groups? Do MPs not visit synagogues, gurdwaras and churches? Is Tommy Robinson not sectarian?

1 month ago 140 26 9 1

Everything about this is Islamophobia and we’re just letting our Prime Minister spout it.

So sorry to learn that thinking about how I might vote is sectarian. Apologies to all. Pls never think about me, a British citizen, again.

Again and again we see the reasons why all centralised id databases must be resisted.

In the UK we already have this in place for migrants and they called it the 'hostile environment' deliberately. It has to be repealed and we certainly can't allow it to be extended any further.

1 month ago 5 2 0 0

Very clear that for Starmer, 'sectarian voting' is when British Muslims don't vote Labour, and for many others, it is just when British Muslims vote.

Failures in care of epileptic man who died in immigration detention, inquest hears Théophile Kaliviotis died in custody at Brook House immigration removal centre near Gatwick Airport

It’s deeply alarming that detention centres are failing to follow their own safeguarding guidance - just weeks after excessive force against vulnerable migrants was exposed at Brook House.

Immigration detention actively inflicts harm. It must end.

Reform want ICE-style deportations in the UK — the kind that have wreaked havoc in the US.

Instead of standing up to this Trump tribute act, Labour is echoing it. And it won’t fix what’s broken. Inequality is the problem — and only the Greens have a plan to confront it.
