Out today! A great collection of studies of the organisation of the senses in interaction. Our chapter looks at visual and haptic aspect shifts in an orienteering race. Plenty of other settings and sensings to be found within!

The inaugural EatSiN (eating in social interaction network) conference was held last week at VU Amsterdam with great success. One of the few conferences where eating the snacks is part of the research.

More than a few years ago, I heard Chris and Marcus give talks at Gregynog. Both were brilliant.

With The University of Edinburgh’s un-necessary cuts continuing, several hundred staff lost this year and more redundancies planned, I’m voting ‘yes’ and ‘yes’. @ucuedinburgh.bsky.social

Congratulations! So lovely to see this come out as a book.

Interface has a satisfyingly home-made feel too. Thanks for the helpful video - I now realise why I was getting rough edges in the sub-clips. I’ll experiment with switching smart cut off and on.

The RATP app’s explanation of its e-tickets. ‘A Navigo Card is a dematerialized transport ticket medium’

Was buying an e-ticket for the Paris Metro and this box popped up. So lovely to have a city transport authority take the time to theorise about what I had just purchased.

Apple Music won for us on certain obscure bands required by family member. A time warp for first few months as it drew on my iTunes listening habits from 10 years earlier.

OneDrive. I feel your pain. Similar things have happened to me.
Have you tried right-clicking the file in the Finder, then selecting version history and seeing if there is a version from before the over-write still there? This doesn’t always work but worth a look.

Hundreds of staff leave Edinburgh University amid cuts drive According to the university, 345 of these departures were the result of a targeted voluntary severance (VS) scheme run by the institution in 2025.

Missing from the coverage of redundancies at Edinburgh: this was done in such a haphazard, uncoordinated way, there are now core teams who have gone from 5 people to 1 with no change in workload or pressure and huge loss in knowledge of institutional process. www.heraldscotland.com/news/2576321...

Covid prevents me from being on the picket line but solidarity to everyone there.

An isolated management, censured by its own academic senate, seeks to literally decimate its own staff.

Oh, and it has the third largest uni endowment in the UK.
