Das Drama behandelt die Ereignisse im Täuferreich von Münster (1534/35). Im Mittelpunkt der tragischen Handlung steht Elisabeth Wandscherer, eine der Frauen des selbsternannten »Königs« Johann Bokelsohn (Jan van Leiden). Die Karte zeigt die im Stück erwähnten realen und symbolischen Orte.
