This is why I keep coming back to Abbott Elementary and Ghosts

also: if you're writing a core cast, cannot stress enough to check out sitcoms (The Office, Abbott Elementary, B99 etc) you've got the same cast in the same space for 20-25 episodes - how do they interact? How do you keep it fresh? How do dynamics shift depending on who's around and who *isn't?*
my father, an old school doc who worked in the public health system in India, used to describe tetanus (which he saw in unvaccinated, often poor people in India without access to post exposure vaccines) as scary, and agonizing.
Explosive & really outrageous revelations in here about a billionaire's private surveillance network completely run amok.
If we can't stop Dolan from spying on us at MSG, let's at least cancel his sweetheart tax break. (1/2)

Forbes launched ForbesPredict in January as part of an effort to reverse declining traffic from search engines and keep users on its website longer.
Now, on a story about about a Louisiana man that killed 8 children, they’re asking you to predict if Congress will do anything about it.
Also a good opportunity to include intersex folks
In response to some bullshit going around:
Can we please fucking destigmatize men being nice to / caring about / engaging with kids? These are normal adult mammal instincts; what's fucked up is that we beat them out of people based on gender and/or assume they're inherently predatory.
writing my WIP about a teenage male babysitter and the kid he unironically adores because YEAH
On Sunday morning, Shamar Elkins, a 31-year-old father and military veteran, shot and killed the children and wounded two women, including his wife, in a domestic violence rampage that stretched across multiple homes in Shreveport’s Cedar Grove neighborhood.

Accessibility tools are useful af
There's a post about the merits of using a non-screen tablet instead of hunching over a screen tablet, but I offer an alternative that's kept me pain-free if you like screen tablets a lot
Things that instantly prove this post wrong just by existing:
Gay & Trans Men
Which is why she says "if you protest the statement that all men are predators you're a feminist/gender abolitionist"

Also, Last of Us and Death Stranding are fantastic games w/ MC Dads who have adopted kiddos
This would be better with alt text and the alt text would show up in keyword search + would make this accessible for screen readers and disability tools
The idea that people who take significant Covid precautions must be introverts is offensive as hell.
It’s ableist as hell. Performers, Organizers, the biggest extroverts in the world were forced to give up careers because other people wouldn’t mask. We do it because we still can’t afford COVID.
There are no words that adequately describe how much I miss being able to go out to gigs, to parties, to festivals, just having a basic normal social life.
Long Covid took all that from me, and it could take it from anyone.
Do you need a good news story this morning? Yeah, me too.

Shoreline is getting more creative about using Seattle City Light property than Seattle is to be honest
As harmful autism disinformation campaigns go, grievance parents‘ attempt to break off “ #profoundAutism” as a separate diagnosis via smearing #neurodiversity advocates is notable—mostly for its spitefulness. Select observations by @embergreen.bsky.social:

I'm eagerly reading rn and I swear if I ever get the chance to slap down my wallet and buy these puppies in print, I'm going for broke 💖
The famous Wolverine #6 cover (2003) with art by Esad Ribic Wolverine is sitting in a chair, leaned back, muscled and drizzled up with a beer bottle on the table suggestively placed near his hips/crotch while a very naked looking Nightcrawler looms in shadow facing him. There's a dark shadow casted over Wolverine's eyes. All of it is extremely suggestive, intimate, and gay af in a romance novel cover kind of way. Bonus context- Kurt/Nightcrawler is one of the few platonic/romantic mixed figures in wolverines life in various story lines and no matter what, they have a very important relationship with each other. It's often said the love they have for each other is the same level of love Wolverine has for Jean
If only (this) Deadpool knew about all the not-so-straight relationships in his life 😏
I was going to keep updating this thread but last time it didn't seem like it bumped up, so I guess I will quote with new pages 😔

Whenever this happens, every single person who found any progress to getting back "on their feet" is set back, sometimes permanently
Sometimes this outright causes the deaths of houseless folks because now with all of their belongings destroyed, frostbite and other outdoor risks can set in
In Chicago today—what was supposed to be a simple off-street cleaning at Eugene Field in Albany Park turned into an encampment sweep that lasted for hours.
City workers destroyed two unhoused residents’ belongings and shelter.
She's only been gone a few months and already her memoir is hard to find.
The name of her book is "Don't Let Them Bury My Story...."
how fitting
I have nothing that will sound helpful, but this has been helpful to me.
Read something else unrelated to what you're working on--and take notes (still writing) even if its not directly related to what you're trying to write.
Edit something you already wrote.
Read poetry, if you can.
Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?
Very disjointed to read “wearing them seems like a violation of the social contract” next to a breakdown of price and battery life.
