I need to explore AppSheet over break. I am curious how it compares with using AI to code Google App Script. What has your experience been? How do they compare?

I get mad at our society everytime we complete a training. We place more responsibility on children than adults

My jhs students were talking "what ifs" yesterday. I didn't even think to look at the news until the evening.

At moments like you are experiencing, I step back and watch my students. Adults and their politics can suck joy from teaching. Focusing on my crazy, hormone driven junior high school students oddly gives me peace.

What if we cut class sizes and use ChatGPT for lesson planning? Even though I use AI, my students greatly benefit from one-on-one time with me.

A regular chat. I want to do a custom GPT, but I gave yet to find the time.

You can also use the Brisk extension. I like using ChatGPT because I like learning how AI works.

💪Strengths and 🌴Areas of Improvement Writing Prompt 💪Strengths and 🌴Areas of Improvement Writing Prompt: Please score and provide feedback on the following writing according to the 7th Grade ELD rubric we've been using, with scores between 30 and 50: ...

I use this prompt docs.google.com/document/d/1... for ELD students. Writing is a weakness on the annual language test and super important for communication.

I hope so. I definitely enjoy reading their writing as they improve their skills.

I look forward to learning from you.

Thanksgiving has been about family, friends, cleaning, coding, and coding + writing feedback. I teach multilingual jhs students. They write in Slides so that their classmates can inspire them while I give real time feedback. I then use code I wrote plus ChatGPT to give detailed feedback. #EduSky

Rosenshine's Principles of Instruction can have a profound impact on all students, including multilingual learners. However, for multilingual learners to fully benefit, adaptations are often necessary ⬇️ (1/2)

Setup for coding on a rainy day: laptop, monitor, water, coffee, and a view of autumn trees.

Setup for coding on a rainy day: laptop, monitor, water, coffee, and a view of autumn trees.

Rainy days are the best days to code. This Thanksgiving break will be spent updating the SlidesCreate add-on. When I feel lost, I will remember everything @claycodes.bsky.social taught me and ask AI questions. Challenges inspire me. #EduSky

Tip Tuesday! Want to see where a Bitly or TinyURL will redirect you without following the link? Add a plus sign to the end of the URL. The full web address will be displayed (then you can decide if you're going to click it). #EduSky #EdTech

My Edtech journey began in high school, teaching Logo to third graders. After a decade in the classroom, I transitioned to the technology specialist role. I've been empowering elementary students to code, think creatively, and be responsible digital citizens for over 15 years. #EduSky

40 AI tools for the classroom Artificial intelligence is growing by leaps and bounds. It's no longer science fiction anymore! Lots of AI tools can serve as our own personal

Got coworkers who are interested in AI but not sure where to start? I tried to make a resource for other teachers but then found this one from @ditchthattextbook.com which is infinitely better than mine! 😂❤️

The best place to get started!

I get you. Maybe one day your district will give you the full week. I wish my district had 3 weeks at Christmas. We only get 2 weeks. Sigh.

A week for Thanksgiving is very nice. Hopefully, your few days with students will be calm and uneventful.

Hello! I have taught junior high school in Central California for 24 years. I have not been on #TeacherTwitter in two years, so it is nice to see familiar names and meet new educators on #EduSky

Video Responses with Padlet — Learning in Hand with Tony Vincent Padlet can be a replacement for Flip/Flipgrid. Collect and share video responses by changing a padlet’s settings.

Students can record and share video responses all inside of Padlet. Read my post for the steps I take to create a padlet that functions like a Flipgrid topic. #EduSky #EdTech

A1. I give my college Ss feedforward, which they don't understand. They want to know the grade for eligibility & parental pressure & . . . I want ppl to understand a grade is an arbitrary & inaccurate measure of one's capability & capacity in that moment in time. Grading suggests learning is a 1/3

You deserve the break as you define it. "Meaningful" can mean doing absolutely nothing or anything you want.

So far my break as been sleeping in, doing a massive clean up, binge watching Cobrai Kai, hiking with friends, and having a leaf battle with a five year old. That was fun.

Do what you want

Completing ELL evalutions is never fun, but I coded student writing portfolios with a dashboard. The writing was scored by AI and confirmed by me. I feel better prepared to complete 108 forms (due Friday because I procrastinate; I would rather code or give writing feedback ). #edusky

My students create our yearbook in Google Slides, print them, and sell them for $15. This week, we will use AI image generation to brainstorm 2-page layouts that we will recreate. Here is an example. I kinda like it. #EduSky Creating is fun!

Here are a few examples from our first film festival. The student directors range from Newcomers to Ready to Exit. We started a second festival Wednesday, which is our creative day. They were disappointed Thursday when we did a Numbers Mania. A festival includes popcorn and their choice treats.

* Tell a story with 10 WeVideo clips or less!
• Videos should be at least 30 and no longer thsn 60 seconds in length.
• Use at least four shot sizes effectively: wide shot, full shot, medium shot, and close-up.
• Include sound effects that enhance the mood.
• Add music when appropriate

We are having our second Tiny Film Festival where students create stories from video clips, sound effects, and music. Students must explain their 30-60 second film to the class. The best films come from students who give me gret hair.
