I try so hard not to post on politics & current affairs, but someone really needs to stop Trump before he becomes the biggest sole cause of humanitarian disaster the world has ever seen. People are now in abject poverty/dying in multiple countries who would not otherwise have been if not for him.

I saw, I blocked. I want to see what people are making, or thinking about making & posing a query. I do not want to see bot-generated signposter.

As it's only 50g, options are limited. Held double you could use it as 4ply/fingering as an area of contrast on a pattern, or held with another yarn on a hat/beret. There are lots of indie dyers out there who may be able to create similar/contrast.

The criticism of Israel is also getting louder and bolder. There seems again to be a shift in tone and a realisation that criticising a country's actions is not criticising it's people.

I'm sensing a real change in tone when discussing the US, specifically the orange baby. Carefully worded 'no' is now an outright NO, along with, don't assume anything coming out of his mouth is based in reality. I assume this isn't just the UK media reporting like this?

Sorry, but I've been spending. Mainly compost and pots. I've got all sorts growing & much earlier this year. Today I heard that fresh fruit & veg is likely to be pricey this year. Good job I've got something like 50 tomato plants on the go πŸ˜‚πŸ˜³ It's been nice getting out in the garden.

Who knew when we were kids that we'd have to resort to taking pics & enlarging to see text? I'm long sighted one side, short on the other (with some other issues). I just wish they'd stop sending links via text messages & expect me to fill shit in on a phone. Can't they just email me? I'm grumpy!

I tried, I really did but sorry, I couldn't make it through a whole episode of I'm a Celebrity. Gemma Collins is so not me. I'm not going assassinate her character, but I really don't get why she's a celeb. Each to their own & all that.

Pattern is Tulippa by Kristina Vilmaite. Sizing is for a small or large shawl in 4ply or DK.

Shawl in red and fawn yarn. There's a cable pattern which makes an 'O' shape with some pleats every couple of inches. Garter stitch runs inbetween the cables.

#knitting this shawl is turning into a bit of a beast. I'm about 250g in so far & I suspect when blocked, this will be HUGE! Its DK yarn (200m per 100g) so will be lovely & warm which is what I wanted. I've never done pleats before, but they're a nice touch. Now starting on the flowers at the edge.

Hehku pattern by Anna Johanna Put on the dress and a pair of woolly socks and sneak downstairs to see if you’re the first one up on Christmas morning.

I knitted this & have been happy, but I wear it with jeggings rather than leggings for a little tummy-tuck! www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...

Mine has been to go with a slightly 'A' line shape, so a bit of inward shaping after the bust line & out around the waist - aiming for a couple of extra inches by the time I get to my widest hip point. I did a 'Ribby' dress which sits a bit like a babydoll, but hated the neckline. Need to try again.

And... I get hayfever & cannot consume dairy. My mum got the last lot, I suspect she'll be getting these too once the company again tells me they don't want them back.

Just received a lovely bouquet of flowers & a box of chocs. However, not for me. My address used. Once you can see as human error, twice 6wks apart & same 'person' and 'message'? I suspect the 'person' may now be leaving a glorious review on Trust Pilot....

Sweater dresses were a big thing in the early 80s. I never wore one, nor a pencil skirt. Not that I'm big (in the 80s I was borderline underweight), but that I am slim-hipped and rounder in the bum & belly. Fashionable now, but I still won't wear a sweater dress or pencil skirt!

Hmm, dunno. I've never crashed a car whilst knitting as yet πŸ€”

So we've entered the ceasefire phase when each side sets out their demands & negotiates. Both sides put this in writing and publish any agreement so each side can be held to account. Ah no, wait, orange baby didn't do this & insists we're being lied to about its content. By whom, I wonder?

Dad: mum could do with a shawl. She's getting stiff and sits with a cardi over her shoulders. Can you bring a spare one and make out it's your idea?
Me: *thinks* those shawls took forever, are indi dyed yarns & all in use. *Answers* yes, of course. Could also knit in preferred colours. #knitting

Uni maths is somewhat different. I jumped from doing half an O level (was ill) to undergrad (sciences). I never did A levels. Have to say that while quantum physics was a brain teaser, still better than school maths! I'm beginning to use maths in my knitting, no idea why I hadn't before.

I taught maths at one point, generally more basic, useful maths to students (16+) who had failed or had additional needs, but also some high school supply teaching. If your students can't see real-life applications, they're not going to 'get it' in any meaningful way.

I have a particular aversion to quadratic equations - but thanks for the very practical use for them!

Yeah, nah. I ended up pulling out 4 rows. No issues, it's all about the process.

Patterned shawl showing and edge of bobbles and a cable pattern on garter stitch background. The garter has periodic pleats, which look like raised bands. The colourway is deep red and fawn. Yarn is DK (similar to sport weight)

Oh crap #knitting that red bobble by the end of the needle is 2 rows too soon. I'm not so keen on ripping back, esp as it's on a pleat row. I'm wondering if I should cut it off πŸ€” carefully mind as I'd need a neat rejoin πŸ€ͺ

Many women (some men) know coercive control when they see it, usually involving 'I didn't want to hurt you but you made me do it' type statements. What else would you expect from a man who openly admitted to sexually assaulting women, some in their teens? Now he wants to murder a population.

RNLI rescues five people at Blakeney cut off by tide The RNLI says the group called 999 after realising they were cut off on Easter Sunday.

And so it begins again. Every year, the same. If there's anything that REALLY needs to be on the curriculum from the earliest age & revisited every year, it's this: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Just wondering what stupid backlash there will be over a slight name change for jams & marmalades in the UK. A fruit preserved with sugar is already called many things. If I see 'fig marmalade' will I really question if it is correctly labeled? Nope. I suspect many indie makers already mislabel πŸ˜‹

The big orange baby is sounding more & more desperate by the day. We all know that resorting to name-calling = losing the argument. He's not shaming us, he's shaming the US on the world's stage.
