Doesn't pay any tax in the UK because he ran away to the Tax Haven Singapore to escape the effects of the Brexit he helped create.

Then he bought up hundred of millions of pounds of farmland to avoid tax, then cried when it was made taxable.

James Dyson is a scumbag.

Winds of at 250 km/h killed 38+ people & displaced 1,000s in Madagascar! Up to 75% of Toamasina, largest port, was destroyed. Madagascar produces about 80% of world’s vanilla. It adds almost nothing to climate change but is hit hard by it – making it yet another classic climate inequality story.

The High Court has ruled that the Home Office’s attempt to proscribe Palestine Action was UNLAWFUL. This is a massive victory against the criminalization of dissent and a vital shield for civil liberties.

For the sake of balance, maybe we should remain open to the possibility that replacing grass with blades of plastic coated in chemicals linked to cancer, thyroid, liver + kidney disease, + inviting our children to play on it is a good idea?

'Civil war is inevitable' said Elon musk, referring to the UK.

We are seeing scenes in Minnesota that show unacceptable state violence.

It would appear that Elon Musk wants such violence over here. And so do some UK politicians.

The cynics think today's attack on Venezuela is staged and transactional. Maduro is allied with Putin, but in 2019 Putin offered Trump a swap: Russia cedes Venezuela and gets Ukraine. (See Fiona Hill's testimony in Trump's first impeachment trial, h/t @davetroy.com). Even Maduro may be in on it. 2/

Trump's in full "say the evil part out loud" mode. Makes it explicitly clear that he ordered the US into Venezuela to take their oil.

Meanwhile Starmer is still in wait-and-see mode. Jelly is like concrete next to him.

David Lammy's Plans to Scrap Automatic Right to Appeal Risk 'Increasing Miscarriages of Justice' Lawyers and legal campaigners say the changes risk removing "vital safeguards" and shutting out vulnerable defendants from justice

🔴There's been a lot of coverage about David Lammy’s cuts to jury trials but relatively little - nothing! - on his plans to scrap the automatic right to appeal so I took a look for @bylinetimes.bsky.social.

Graphic saying ID cards are intrusive and unwanted

The power a Digital ID card scheme would give to Governments now & in the future is not one they should have. ❌️

The world is on the brink of war. The climate crisis accelerates. The global economic system teeters.

But “small boats”, eh?

Britain’s political discourse is so parochial.

We now rent our trains at a cost of nearly ÂŁ2bn a year.

Even though they are only worth ÂŁ6-7bn.

The wonders of privatisation.

There's more money in the UK now than there has ever been, even with the disasterous Brexit

The only reason there's 'no money' is because the richest are robbing it from you on Food, Energy, Water, Mortgages, Rent, Loans and everything else at a record rate

Then paying zero tax

ÂŁ540bn a year the Government is losing to services which have been privatised in the last 50 years.

This is why there is no money.

This year the 150 billionaires operating in the UK will get 12% richer.

While almost all of the 19.8m people who work for them and their private companies will get poorer.

The two are connected in exactly the same way that a seesaw is.

It is time for them to suffer, not you.

At our demonstration today, I'm holding a placard stating
"I support
Palestine.
Action
must be taken."
My aim is to highlight the absurdity of the government dictating what can and cannot be said by peace-seeking people

Toadflax Pug to light in the Hampshire garden last night. It often seems the case that boldly marked moths can really melt into the background when seen against a natural surface. #TeamMoth

Blatantly Biased Collaboration A remarkable before-and-after experiment provides conclusive evidence: the BBC favours the right and excludes the left.

BBC claims to be neutral, but George Monbiot’s new piece shows how it favours rightwing voices and sidelines those challenging power. If you care about media fairness, this is worth a read.

Starmer doesn’t pander to Farage fans because he thinks they’ll vote Labour. He does it because he wants to shift the Overton window right. He’s not clueless—he’s an establishment figure ensuring Labour can’t threaten the status quo.

Isn’t this because the UK is a right-wing political entity by default? You only have to look at its actions around the globe to see what it wants to be like at home.

Maybe he knows, after all he’s already intentionally forced the party to the right…

It’s remarkable how hard it is to convince people that a Western society could commit genocide, given its long history—from the extermination of Indigenous peoples in the Americas and Australia, to the Congo under Belgian rule, and famines under British imperialism in India and Ireland.

I just think people should know that I have NEVER in 15 years as a science reporter had scientists tell me they couldn't talk to me for political reasons. It's now happened several times within the last week alone.
