They do seem to have a purplish hue which would suggest figs are most likely.

Some months later I came across the ring while sorting through some bubble wrap that had been used to wrap flower pots. It had somehow got caught inside one of the bubbles. A small miracle.
It might turn up.
My wife lost a ring while gardening at our old house. I spent many hours searching for it, sifting gravel and so forth. It was only a small garden but eventually we gave it up for lost, sold the house and moved... 1/2
