Sketching the cherry blossoms in the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, squinting in the sun, soaking up Spring

Seen here, this spectacular Magnolia ‘Lois’ can be found on a hill adjacent to Magnolia Plaza. You can find yellow magnolias in Magnolia Plaza, the Discovery Garden, and the Osborne Garden.
Bloom alert! 💛 BBG’s yellow magnolias are blooming.
BBG is famous in horticultural circles for introducing the yellow-flowering magnolia to the world. These hybrids are often the last bloomers among the Garden’s magnolias. Most of BBG’s other magnolias are finished flowering for the year.
Thanks for stopping by!
Please note that BBG closes at 4 p.m. (last entry at 3 p.m. on these days) April 21–24 for ticketed Hanami Nights programming. April 25 through May 10, BBG is open Tuesday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. and Friday–Sunday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Last entry is 30 minutes prior to Garden closure.
Spring is our busiest season and you should be prepared for crowds. Reserve tickets in advance to speed admission. If you want a more serene visit, stop by mornings before noon. 👇
Cherry Esplanade and Cherry Walk continue to bloom beautifully right now! 🌸 We expect these blooms to last through the week, but remember, nature runs the show.

When you visit, please remember that Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a museum of living plants. Please don’t touch any parts of our plants, pick flowers or other plant parts, or walk in plant beds.
Bloom alert! 🚨🌸 Cherry Esplanade and Cherry Walk have just hit peak bloom.
The Kanzans opened up rapidly over the past few days. These blooms should last another week or so, depending on the weather.
Keep an eye on CherryWatch, linked below, and our socials for updates on “peak bloom,” and news about BBG’s entire flowering cherry collection. 👇
CherryWatch 2026 update! 🌸🚨
The first Kanzan cherries are opening on Cherry Esplanade and Cherry Walk!
Remember, this is just “first bloom” for these flowering trees.
Stop by the south side of BBG to see blooms galore! 👀
Pictured in order: A flowering cherry in the Plant Family Collection, pear trees in the Herb Garden, a Halehaven peach tree in the Herb Garden, Magnolia 'Lois' in the Discovery Garden, and Chinese redbud in the Discovery Garden.

Shakespeare Gardens are real, we do indeed have one, and they are not a new concept (though they don't actually date back to actual Shakespearean times).

Well I made it out there. Going to be back a lot to catch all the blossoms as they come out. But an excellent start. @brooklynbotanic.bsky.social
If you missed these, don’t worry. The Kanzan cherries on Cherry Esplanade are on the way, and have not started blooming yet.

Last call for cherry blossoms in the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden! ⛩️🌸
The weeping higan cherries and other flowering cherry varieties in BBG’s Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden are looking spectacular right now, but are likely to only last a few more days.
Stop by BBG’s Native Flora Garden soon to see Dutchman’s breeches, trout lilies, Virginia bluebells, white dogtooth violets, and more, all blooming right now.
You have to l👀k closely (and make haste!) to see these blooms. 🔎
In early spring, before trees leaf out, native woodland wildflowers take advantage of the sunlight to bloom. These “spring ephemerals” complete their bloom cycle in just a few weeks, or even less.
BROOKLYN! There’s only a handful of tickets left to our climate comedy show.
If you want to come laugh and dance with us, now’s your chance.✨
🎟️ Grab your tickets before they’re gone!
