Congrats!
Cuts to the Faculty of Science will lead to poorer education programmes, write student reps on the Study Board of Biology:

Excited to share our collaborative PhD project with Adam Dobson (Adam.Dobson@glasgow.ac.uk) on interorgan signalling in the ageing gut. Please contact Adam If you are a highly motivated student wanted to work on a super exciting Fly project.

Nice team work from our PhD student Duncan Mackay with the precious help of @alphyjohn.bsky.social and colleagues, and a great collaboration with Matteo Rauzi lab
Excited to share our last paper describing how intestinal stem cell migration promotes gut regeneration!

- Rouba, Nhi and Lizzie have posters in session 1 & 2
We are looking forward to seeing you at the @edrc2025.bsky.social
You can find us
- On Thursday 25th at the workshop: INTERORGAN COMMUNICATION IN THE ERA OF OMICS,
- On Saturday morning 27th @alphyjohn.bsky.social will give a talk in the session stem cells and regeneration
- On poster sessions
2 post-doc positions open in the lab to do research on inter-organ signalling in regeneration and cancer in flies and mice.
Very happy and proud to share the latest work from our lab.

Great meeting!
Great works of @rustenlab.bsky.social and @Basler lab independently showing how premalignant cells can exploit Toll-NF-κB signaling, in concert with oncogenic Ras, to enable unchecked growth #Drosophila Papers: plos.io/4jqpmUh and plos.io/3RGWESS Primer: plos.io/3GyUeU0
Schematics Top: While Toll-NF-κB pathway activation alone inhibits differentiation, trapping cells in a progenitor-like state, it also increases cell death rates leading to an overall reduction in tissue size. Bottom: In the presence of oncogenic RasV12, these progenitor-like cells become refractory to cell death, which drives tumor growth. Additionally, NF-κB/Dorsal activates JNK signaling and enhances the invasiveness of polarity-deficient RasV12/scrib−/− tumors.
#InnateImmunity is a crucial surveillance framework. However, @colombani-lab.bsky.social explores 2 @plosbiology.org studies which show that pre-malignant cells can exploit these regulatory circuits to enable unchecked #cancer growth 🧪 Papers: plos.io/4jqpmUh plos.io/3RGWESS Primer: plos.io/3GyUeU0
Happy to share the preprint of our latest work on gut/vascular interactions in flies and mice! www.biorxiv.org/cgi/content/...
