People who look like celebrities are in for some fun times...

New today: “They gave us two hours of electricity. Not even enough time to breathe. The fridges didn’t cool down. The battery packs didn’t charge. This system is diabolical.”
Media needs to stop with "critics say" and just quote the actual language of the bill.
HB 249 creates a new category of "seminudity" which can be used to arrest women who aren't nude, but are wearing clothing — leggings, t-shirts without bras — that religious groups feel is too provocative.
What's significant is that Tucker is a long-time grifter, having reinvented himself depending on which way the political winds are blowing. If he's turned against Trump, he's perceiving a turn of the tide.
Fascists/white supremacists are not reasonable by nature or they wouldn't have those beliefs. Add the batshit kind of conspiracies and grifting that Carlson and that lot engage in, + the audiences loathing of the other, and you are delusional if you think there's Dem policy that will sway them.
Look, I am not a political expert I'm just a writer who has been alive 47yrs and has decent critical thinking skills and historical special interests that keep proving extremely relevant. Any Dems advocating for embracing fascists/white supremacists over real progressive policy? Bad faith.
This is pretty cool research. Us humans feel best when we're in rhythm with music, each other and the natural world. neurosciencenews.com/music-psycho...
Effort can be fun or not fun, depending on a whole bunch of things, often how we think about it. We don't call doing exercise or playing "creating friction." Anyway, the idea of "friction" seems to come from website design/UI and to be an impoverished and limiting way to view and consider effort.
I hate how we're calling effort "friction" now, it feels a bit like how we call music "product" or "content"...as if we're losing something essential to business-speak/corporate-speak by framing it in this way. As if the framing is already highlighting the loss of something essential and human.
This is just mainstreaming right wing panic about "lost masculinity" and making it palatable to parents.
Because he has wealth but also because he's basically servicing the system and the ultra wealthy by mainstreaming the right wing panic about masculinity but just couched in "but what about the children?" type parent baiting. It is ALL about the perceived loss of male power to dominate and exploit.
...than our categorizing brains (that love binaries) would like it to be and reflexively make it if we don't put in the effort. Anyway, we all need to get better at understanding just how unique our experiences of being human and perceiving the world. It's our super power when we acknowledge it!
It's also pretty wild how transparent and revealing of their pathologies it all is. And how so many people really can't grasp neurodiversity and just project their own experience of themselves and the world onto everyone else (and claim it's objectivity). EVERYTHING is more fluid and less discrete..
These guys make their various pathologies into ideologies constantly and they are not well. They also assume all the rest of us share their particular personality disorders and neuroses that make it difficult or impossible for them connect to other people or even themselves. It's wild to witness.
"benchmarks of intelligence" is so incredibly loaded with (bigoted) history and culture. These people have no understanding of the complex ways social creatures such as ourselves move through the world. Are they all suffering from depersonanlization disorders? It's sounding like it!
44% of new uploads are AI-generated, and 85% of their subsequent streams are fraudulent. This is the new tech that all major stakeholders in music are scrambling to profit from

$108 billion in debt from this coming Warner Brothers merger will be hard to handle if everybody cancels their Paramount and HBO Max Extreme Plus subscriptions.
“The militant neo-Nazi group ‘Knockout51’ was founded in Eisenach in 2019. At the time of its inception, it also reflected the neo-Nazi scene’s turn toward combat sports—and, by extension, the further professionalization of its violence”
I am so sorry, letting go of a beloved companion is terribly hard. May the universe support you and provide other joys to balance out the sadness and loss.

"Of course, we have to teach our students about AI technologies. Teaching about AI technologies
should be just like how we teach ‘no smoking’ or the causal links between lung cancer and cigarette
smoke; yet, we do not teach students how to roll cigarettes and smoke them." - I love it.
Whether it's "Just get AI to do it" or "Just get the private sector to it", the end result is a reliance on for-profit models for things we should be collectively doing for the collective good.
When you outsource everything, you remove the friction that builds growth - literally and figuratively.
Yes, there are things that make sense to move online. Of course. I'm taking to y'all on the damn internet, after all!
But there are so many big, huge, obvious connections between our desire for a purely solo, à la carte existence with the reality of profound social decay and isolation.
I teach bystander intervention for a living & I spend all my days thinking about building community care, breaking isolation, etc.
I wish more people understood how community banks, local grocery stores, door-to-door mail service, etc. are all tiny, but important ways that we build connections.

Green crab populations are exploding as warming waters in the Gulf of Maine create ideal conditions for them. Khmer Maine, a nonprofit serving Portland’s Cambodian community, is producing a traditional salted crab product—kdam prai—in an effort to mitigate the crabs’ environmental impact.
