Personally I've only been asked to do 3 manuscripts in 3 years. I've done them all. Would be happy to do more within reason for reputable journals.

The biggest tragedy with science is the loss of materials. Someone publishes something and the assumption is that it can be made available for future use. This falls down when a group leader retires. A combination of their group moving on and loss of contacts.

Alas my ERC starting grant was not passed to stage 2. I always knew my goal was just to get the second part read and this just feels like one more kick in the teeth. Guess I'll buy some new jumping spikes tonight....

Very humbled to have been awarded the Skyrac AC senior track and field athlete of the year during an injury riddled season when others stepped up so much ☺️ couldn't have got through this year without the support of my my amazing team - Sue, Sam and Alan

I wonder if there are any academics out there who have taken a step back from a permanent position to a post-doc. I'd be interested to talk to anyone who has made this decision as I'm contemplating it as a possibility.

I recently sequenced an interesting bacterial genome, with the idea of making the interesting recombinant genes from this strain.

Problem: after a morning searching the genes of interest just aren't there. Not a trace, and all literature says there should be 2 copies. 😭🤯 #help

So after some digging, David Dryden is now retired...so back to the original question does anyone have or know anyone with David Dryden's collection - specifically after NM1261(DE3) and/or NM1261 🙏🙏🙏 looks like it could be very useful for some of my mechanistic work.

Being autistic can mean many things for people. One might not be comfortable with sound, whereas another might not be bothered in the slightest. One can't cope with food mixing with other foods on the plate; to someone else, it doesn't matter.
