Just returned from Scotland, visiting historic sites, castles and battlefields. By far my favorite find was this small book owned by Lt. Col. Sir Peter Halket who died at the Battle of the Monongahela July 9, 1755. Halket was part of the ill fated Braddock campaign with a young George Washington.
Ahead of the 250th anniversary of the campaign for New York this summer, “Trying Men’s Souls” from Against the Odds has arrived in Brooklyn where I’ll get it played on my table that sits right on the battlefield.

Saturdays are often for big games and this Saturday was no different. A game of the @avalonhill1.bsky.social classic Empires In Arms that has been running for months at a full seven players continued, and six players tackled @fantasyflightgames.bsky.social Twilight Imperium in a single sitting.
One of our favorite things about the club is when new people find us when visiting NYC from out of town. We were glad to have Jonathan from Oregon find us this weekend while traveling the East Coast on business.

Big game today of Imperial Elegy from @vucasimulations.bsky.social back where it began at the club years ago. At the full player count, the game ran 10 hours and ended with the Ottomans, Russia and Austria-Hungary annihilating France, the UK and Germany at the outset of the Great War.
