Thanks for all this James! Some points I’ve heard from others as well in terms of hit reactions bass stuff and the wow factor. Your point about going into the “OTT” territory with re-designs also makes sense!Wwise, totally agreed;- working on a very exciting Wwise project currently to rectify this!

Had a similar issue recently with a VA editing test, though luckily that one was a sine wave so no harmonics to worry about. It’s at times like that when I wish I was working with iZoTope 😅 Reaper’s spectral functions are great but it definitely isnt at the same level feature-wise.

I definitely see what you mean in terms of some modern bass cronch being cool though having a potential fatigue. I’ve interpreted this as a “slow time” spell which would be the player’s ‘desperation move’ if you like, so we could get away with some of that crunch making its way in. 😁
I love the recent resurgence of indie games with this style of graphics! I hope it becomes as prominent as 2D pixel art in the indie scene.
