Teaching some vs teaching all. This is where the action for improvement lies. A theme I explore in most of my CPD and coaching work is the challenge of teaching everyone in a class simultaneously and the pitfalls of allowing ourselves to assume some students’ responses…

This week we are taking a deep dive into how to use formative assessment to facilitate stretch and challenge for all pupils in the classroom. This from @teacherhead.bsky.social shares some simple strategies to ensure we're supporting all pupils to be stretched

Being a teacher means wearing a dozen hats before morning break. You are a listener, a cheerleader, and so much more. We believe that great teachers are built on this foundation of empathy and authenticity.

Tried out the "draw a scientist" thing with my 9yo, and this is what she drew. We then asked AI to create a scientist based on her sketch. Then we talked about stereotypes!

1. Treat AI output as a first draft
AI generates plausible language, not guaranteed accuracy. Always review and edit before using content in teaching.
2. Check unfamiliar facts using trusted sources
If something is new to you, verify it. Hallucinations are most likely where subject knowledge is weakest.
3. Watch for confident but vague claims
Be cautious of phrases such as “research shows” or “studies suggest” when no specific source is named.
4. Ask the AI to explain its reasoning
Follow-up questions often reveal gaps, assumptions, or errors in the original response.
5. Verify names, dates, and references carefully
AI frequently invents studies, authors, or documents. Always check citations before sharing them with pupils or colleagues.
6. Cross-check anything used directly with pupils
Lesson materials, explanations, and factual content should always be confirmed against reliable curriculum or subject sources.
7. Be cautious with niche or very recent topics
AI is less reliable with specialised content, local guidance, or recent changes to curriculum or policy.
8. Model critical AI use to pupils
Show pupils that AI is a tool that requires checking. This supports digital literacy and responsible use.
